NYS ROPS rebate program

I purchased a ROPS from this site, new seat from TSC and a seat belt from NAPA for my 671. Seven hundred dollars up front cost. I just received a check from the New York state rebate program for four eighty. Out of pocket final expense...two hundred and eleven dollars. I was cautiously optimistic about this program but they came through just like they promised.

If you"re in New York state and are considering a ROPS you can get information by calling: 1-800-ROPS-R4U.

Good for you! On the other hand, it looks to me like another tax on someone who doesn't know or care about your safety. Would you be willing to pay more taxes if NY offered motorcycle drivers helmuts?
Not knocking you, glad you got it. I just wonder how many dollars of "your" money is going to subsidize something you don't agree with, but someone in Albany (who knows whats best for us!) is handing it out.

Jim,
We"re so buried in taxes in New York State that getting something back from the government is a rarity at least for the working man.

Let's see if I understand this problem.... Folks with tractor toys and computers and apparently lots of spare time whine about taxes they had the opportunity to influence with their vote. They either did not do their citizen's duty, or they were lazy/outvoted and should either live with it or move.
The rebate was not to give tractor owners a free ROPs (and does not equate to giving motorcycle riders free helmets.) It was a public safety campaign which saves the public emergency healthcare expenses, and consists of a subsidy to tractor ROPs mfr's/dealers.
Much like foreign aid (which Americans seem to criticize).... when we give away $50 mil to Mexico it isn't free money to Mexico.... it's mostly credit to purchase American mfr'd goods/services, which is good for the GIVER.... the U.S. citizen who is employed to build the goods and ignorantly whines about it.

Geez JimSC..........A farmer or farm employer gets some monetary relief providing a bit of safety for a tractor operator and something's wrong with that?

JD is bewildered!
