O/T computor question

When I start up my computor, start up info only flashes on for a second, then a dark screen until the next screen, and it will flash for one second then a dark screen. Then when my screen saver displays it also comes on for one second then a blank screen. If I restart a lot times the computor screen will finally stay on. My screen is about one year old flat screen. Any idea where I should start? stan

Mine did the same thing. I unpluged the cables that are hooked to the monitor and computer and pluged and unpluged a few times to sort of scrub them clean to make a good connection. It fixed my flat screen that was 6 months old.

Is it a new monitor? Was this setup working before? Have you changed the resolution? Sometimes if you set the resolution too high for the monitor or if you set the refresh rate too high it will flash like that because the monitor is trying to match the settings from the computer.

Just an idea. You might try to boot the computer in safe mode, it will come up in a lower resolution with very basic VGA settings that will work with pretty much any monitor.
