does anyone have the high speed wireless internet from dish was thinking about getting it,I'm on dial up right now and I only have one line coming in to the house and the phone company wants almost $500 to put another line in plus $50 a month for high speed internet.thanks

Pretty sure Wildblue provides high speed for Dish Network - Looked into as we have Dish and it wasn't cheap. Guess we'll just keep plugging along with dialup or run into work if I need something faster!

I like my hughesnet.com,,,come cast is poor servis and ther price heeps going up. I live in Michigan and the only snow problem is when the snow is realy wet we clear the dish 2 or 3 times a winter,, we put it in year 2003 and the price has not gon up at all 59.99 per mo. works realy good on you-tube (vido)

If you have good cell service look into an internet card. They are not as fast as DSL but a lot faster than dial up

I've got Wild Blue, for one more day, which provides satellite internet for Dish. I hate it. It is faster than dial up and the service is pretty reliable. Fog is the only thing that messes me up, or a heavy mist.

They really limit how much you can use in a month, and are only too happy to sell you more. Grrrr......... Im up to 79.99 a month because I like to upload and download too much. At the high rate, its comparable to cable, at the low rate it compares to DSL, at least in my experience. I got fed up with the bandwidth issue and the cost. Time Warner is close to me with cable and I'd rather give them what extra Id spend over 3-4 years than give it to Wild Blue. It may not be an option for you, but, to me, satellite would be a last resort.

When your phone line was installed from the begining,it was perhaps installed with two lines from the get go... so therefore the phone is a two line, and for them to charge you $500.00 for them to just click a switch is very greedy

But as you know a lot of people have gone away from "land lines" and have cell phones instead

your best bet would be to try for DSL as it is cheaper,and gives you high speed internet and phone

My nephew in Mn. has wireless internet from I think Verizon and it is way cheaper than the other phone line.. so you do the math

Around here there are several small private firms with their own local wireless system.
They just hang an antenna form the top of any feedmill elevator, silo, tall building etc.And connect to a high speed land line close to a central office,.
Cost and speed is similar to dsl.

I have had it for about a year and a half. They do put limits on your upload/download, but I only came close to it once. If you download a lot of big files or videos it may be a problem. Where I live its either satelite or dial-up no other choices yet...Overall I am happy with it....Jim
