Sean(Tx), it's only raining in SOME of the south! No rain here in almost two months except 3 tenths about three weeks ago. Corn looks like October and grass is dormant or gone.
I tried pricing a pipeline to Iowa, but found I couldn't lay pipe over all that water... It's a crazy year.

We had 1.3 inches hear yesterday afternoon and night. We could use more, but we will take what we can. Some areas close to us probably received three inches or more. This rain event is supposed to end today.

Looks like it will be back thou...Some pretty good chances in the 10 Day Forcast

Sean,

Now that I moved up to the modern view, I noticed that you list Canyon Lake as your residence. Were you there for the 1998 inundation? At that time I lived in Seguin. It will be an event I will never forget. The most striking part of the whole operation is that I recall a cow who escaped the flooded San Marcos River laying in the median of I-10 calmly chewing her cud while miles of water rushed by.

We complain about rain now, but it (rain) can easily turn on as quickly as it turns off.

No rain for us today though.

I was here...Got out of they Navy in 97 and moved back here..The 2002 flood was even worse...Water going over the spillway for the first time ever..The amount of water that flowed over the spillway was about 3 1/2 times the amount of water that the reservoir holds. Erosion over the course of three days tore away soil to reveal what is now the Canyon Lake Gorge.

Most of the 98 rain fell below the dam, but that 02 flood was quite a booger as well. I was then living in Dallas and I remember seeing the flooding on the Texas state network news that day. It was impressive to see the water go over the spillway at Canyon and at Medina lakes. If I recall correctly that rain was the first time Choke Canyon lake south of San Antonio filled up in about ten years.

For those who do not know, the land around Canyon Lake is hilly and rocky and prone to severe flash floods, but when calm is some of the best tubing and relaxing water around.
