O.T. WATCHING AMAZON PRIME

I live in central northern Michigan---I want to watch the Lions-Packers game on Thursday night.
I have an LG TV that is probably at least 12 years old. Probably not a smart TV.
I have to have Amazon Prime to watch the streaming.
I know nothing about this. I could use Amazon Prime as I order a lot of stuff on line.Maybe something about a fire stick......
I would like to hear from someone who can tell me exactly;y what I need to watch the game..
I have 11 tractors-----------

If you don't have a smart tv, you can watch prime with either a Roku or firestick. There may be other options, but either of these should plug into your tv. You will also need an Amazon prime account, but it appears you realize that. You also have to have decent wi-Fi for these to work. I have only used Roku, so don't know how the services compare.

Prime video works well for me streaming on a $30 a Roku Stick, I recently watched the Vikings play a Thursday night game on Prime video.

Two day delivery might be tight for an Amazon delivery. Check Walmart or another nearby store to see what they have in stock for local pickup.

Your local Walmart should have Rokus in stock. The cheaper one works fine, its either $30 or $40 these days.

Walmart generally has the Roku in stock. You need a good Wi-Fi and internet connection for streaming to work well. My wife set ours up but it was so simple I think I cold have done it. I seem to remember the Roku menu had a link to Amazon Prime built in.

Does your firestich plug into USB port?

If so it should work if you push input on TV remote HDM.
Then use forestick remote.

You may have to pay to watch special sporting events.

I don't think Amazon is into sports.
You may have to sign up for a sports channel.

I'm a life time resident of Michigan and I wouldn't pay $40 to watch the Lions. I'm 67 years and have never seen a championship Lions team. I do hear they are rebuilding this year, AGAIN!

Get a Roku stick at Walmart.
No prime membership fee at $139 a year.
No Roku membership or monthly fee
The Roku has a built-in Prime Video channel

Firestick or Roku, both are wireless, can't be hardwired to TV.

With Roku, you can also surf the internet. You could be looking at Yesterday's Tractors on your TV, ha.

It doesn't work that way. The Roku lets you access the Amazon Prime channel if you don't have a smart TV, it doesn't circumvent the need for a subscription. Prime still costs money if you want to watch any content.

First you have to have an Amazon Prime subscription. Go to Amazon.com and they will sell you a subscription to Prime.

After that you have to have a device which will basically turn your TV into a smart TV. If you go get a smart TV then you can bypass the device. That device could be a ROKU, a Firestick, a Google Chromecast, or other similar devices. Walmart or any other electronics store like Best Buy sell these devices. They plug into the HDMI port on the back of your TV and come with their own remote.

Plug it in to the HDMI port, then turn your TV input to that port, then follow the onscreen instructions. They are fairly simple. Other than entering your Prime username/password they are all pretty much plug and play.

I've set this up for various older relatives. You need some kind of device that will allow your older tv to get on the internet by communicating with your home wifi router. All the major brands have been mentioned already. ROKU is pretty easy for most of my customers to navigate and is easy to set up. Once you get that done, it provides you with quite an assortment of popular internet channel icons on your tv screen and the ability to search for and download many more. Some you can select and watch for free; others require you to have a subscription. To watch Primetv you also need an Amazon Prime account. If you go to buy a Roku device, you'll probably see a number of different models at different price points. I don't recall what all of them do or what they cost; I know I usually just get the cheapest one with a remote that has the ability to also control the tv volume. All come with a remote, the base models won't control tv volume, so you'd have to use both the Roku remote and the tv remote.

Be aware that you'll need to create a Roku account as well as an Amazon Prime account. Signing in on the Roku is the worst part of the deal because there is no keyboard. Luckily you only have to do it once.

You said: Firestick or Roku, both are wireless, can't be hardwired to TV.
They are very similar and both plug into the tv's hDMI port.
