OEM Tractor Parts

Hi all,
I have made my first purchase from OEM Tractor Parts (www.oemtractorparts.com) on January 8th. I have not been charged for my parts yet because they need to get the "best rate available" shipping price. It shows up "pending" in the order details. For people who have bought from OEM before, how long does it take to get the shipping price? I really want to get these parts.

Thanks,
Andy

Andy, I like the folks at OEM, but they sure take their time delivering parts, not sure why. It happended to me twice. Give them a call to hurry them up.

Neither me or my freinds have had any good luck with them, they just gave us the run around. Heck they had me on "hold" for 3 weeks to see if they had that part?? Id call they say O' that guy aint in... or were still checking on it... or were working on it... They have alot of odd parts to find. the funny thing is that i called and they had a one of there catalogs at my door in 3 DAYS... but i will not order anything from them again. Im sure others have had good luck with them but im sure not one of them, are you sure the part you ordered in back ordered perhaps? i dont undersatnd why they would care about shipping when your paying for it.....

Good luck to you

Andrew

They, like most vendors, care about shipping because people freak out and badmouth the business when they feel like they are being overcharged for shipping.

OEM manufactures many of their own parts, so you may be waiting on something to be made. The only way to know is to give them a call.

I have been very satisfied with OEM. Not the fastest delivery, but, quality parts and they are always glad to offer help or information in any way they can.

Andy,

i would call them and ask, it sounds like you might be in a computor suspend, they normally will ship within 2 weeks, unless they are out.

Look their stuff over at this years red power round up, stuff was selling fast. I was not impressed with the quality. Their MTA grills are pretty rough. If you need one, I guess it's ok. But not very high quality. Easy to tell it isn't original. Bought a Super H battery box. When I got it, had to rebend the back brackets. In doing this, one broke off. Put top on. The front two hold down bolts were off. Only way to fix that is "egg shape" the holes. My opinion, if you're buying stuff for a tractor you reselling or useing, their stuff is as good as anyone elses' But if you're fixing one up to be original and a keeper I'd look for good rebuildable original stuff.

I think the longest I have waited for a part to arrive has been a week. As to quality, I've not been disappointed.

I have had very good luck with OEM tractor parts. I have ordered LH and RH grab handles for an 806, and had them within two weeks, and I live in Canada. Quality was excellent and was 1/2 the price this site wanted! The one I would not buy from is Herschel Adams, it is worthless junk that is a waste of their own time to build...

Use OEM for parts you can't find anywhere else. Post below mentioned battery boxes that needed to be modified. I have had that experience twice on two different types of boxes. Their serial tags are low quality. I agree that if you can find good used parts that you don't mind working on, you are better off. But, OEM does make parts that no one else makes. Just be prepared to work on them a little.

I also bought an MTA grille. Took a lot of work to get it to fit the crown. Now in fairness, I bought mine on e-bay. Perhaps they sell seconds there, I dont know. About shipping time, it is worth noting that a couple places in their catalog they do say "you order it, me make it, then we ship it". So a couple weeks lag time is probably to be expected.

I have bought several things from them. Everything works good. I suspect most of their parts are reversed engineered, meaning they had to create their own blueprints and develop the manufacturing process and specifications, all from old parts. Not easy.

I just bought a serial tag for my SH from OEM. The only differance from original is the stamped numbers are a little shorter. The printing is etched and the holes even lined up. I think they have improved them and I'am happy with mine. They have quite a price on them tho. I also bought a battery box and set of gauges for my SH off OEM's ebay auction's, about 40% off catalog prices. The gauges are quality made in the USA but the battery box needed a little work. Biggest complaint on the battery box is it was powder coated. It did not match 2150's colors so I had to blast and repaint it. I don't know if anyone has sandblasted powder coat but it was a nasty job, took 150# of sand just to do the box, nasty!

Been a while since I bought a tag -- mine was scratched in shipment (lousy paint) and the holes did not lined up -- they could have improved them, definitely needed to. I prefer nothing painted when I order something, as you say it won't match. Don't know why they powder coat. I don't think they make their own gauges, lights, etc. Also their battery boxes are supplied to other dealers, so the same problem can happen there. I don't think their sheet metal fabricators take enough time for their work. I will still order from them if I have to, will just have to make it fit.
