I decided this morning the only thing that needs to smoke are my tractors. I aint buying no more of them overpriced stinky cancer sticks. Wondered how you guys kicked the habit im going cold turkey. Good luck to me!

Good Luck my friend, I quit 12 years ago when they banned smoking in the shop at work...cold turkey!! I finally got the mind set that I do not need them any more, after the first 3-4 weeks it gets a lot easier, you start tasting your food better...and the cravings go away...the hardest for me was when I had a couple adult beverages...start putting your money in a coffee can that you would have spent on cigs. you will be surprised how much monet that thing hold! I had over $2k in mine after 1-1/2, went and bought a tractor

I quit 20 years ago ,cold turkey , every time you wanted one just set your mind to that little piece of s--- is not going to tell me what to do any more ,good luck hardest thing i ever did

that's the only way to quit. people that try to quit by using some substitute are doomed to fail. tell yourself, like the others said, that it's not going to own you anymore and stick to it. i had to quit drinking beer for a while also just so i could do it but it's worth every agony. i cringe when i see a young person smoking but it doesn't do any good to try and tell them. my sister in law was one of the prettiest girls you ever saw, younger than my wife, and now she just looks wrinkled and 20 years older than my wife.

Look in the mirror and ask your self if you are in charge of your life or is something as stupid as sucking on a burning weed got you pinned down. If you REALLY want to quit you can...and will.

Cold Turkey!! you really got to tell yourself I WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER ONE EVER and stick with it. Their is more to life than sucking on them chemical sticks. Good Luck!! Stick to it!!

Had a friend who quit a few yrs back that threw all the money in a drawer the first month and couldn't believe how much he had been wasting on cancer sticks.. I quit cold turkey 40 yrs ago and can't stand to be around them now. good luck

Just remember! Even if you have a bad day and bum a couple from a friend, Tomorrow is a new day! Keep Trying! I use to go through a lot of ice breakers and fireballs

I got lucky & finally quit 30 yrs ago,my uncle was braggin about quitting & he smaked for 50 yrs & I figured if HE could do it then I could too.The next day on the way to work I decided to start chain smoking until I got sick,it didn't take long & as I was driving to work I threw the cig & the rest of the pack out the window & that's the lsat one I've everhad. Now I can't stand to smell & even hold my breath when I see people smoking by buildings.I watched my Mother die from COPD 4 yrs ago & want to avoid anymore damage to my lungs.
Good Luck
Don't make a bid deal about it to all your friends that's a setup for failure.

Should I tell this story ? why not.

It was 1998 when I found myself single for the first time in 13 years. I decided to date an old friend that I had stuck in my head since being 16. She was beautiful. Indian, French and a little Belgium, long black hair, 100 lbs soaking wet.

For 25 years I had all these "illusions" floating around in my head what it would be like to be with her... and man did I find out. About 3 months in I found myself in a relationship with a girl who turned irrational and argumentative at nearly every opportunity. Nearly every conversation about any substantive matter would spin out of control and end up with me simply scratching my head wondering what just happened

I was up to about 3 packs a day (Kool Milds) when one day, while sitting on her couch, it occurred to me I was so miserable I couldn't possibly be MORE miserable if I quit smoking... something I had tried doing several times in the past. I threw away the cigarettes March 3 of '99 and stayed in the relationship until the end of May to make sure I had the strength to totally give them up.

Haven't touched one since. Funny part is she kept asking me "how the heck did you just quit?".. something she struggled with herself.

Of course I'm not recommending you run out and find yourself someone that's gonna make you totally miserable... lol ... but whatever works ! Best of luck
