oil capacity ?

how much oil does the tranny / rearend hold in a gtbd and could i get away with 20/50 synthetic oil because it only going to be used fro pulling ,the oil i drained is heavy and thick , let me know please ?
 
The book says 52 quarts. If it were my tractor's rearend, I would stick to at least 80/90w. 20/50w seems too lite and may lead to gear or bearing damage over time.
