Oil filter?

I have heard people say that if you soak your old filter in kerosene and blow it out that you can re-use them for next oil change.

41 9n uses a canister filter(I use fram c3p). Has anybody heard this before and is it recommended? Just wondering.

I would throw it away and put new filter in.You use Fram filters and they are a cheap filter. If you try to wash it out and blow it out with air you tear a hole in the paper filter.

That's how you clean the air filter. Use a new oil filter.

Like Grandaddy always said to me "People will tell you a lot of $h!t" saving a dollar is one thing but stepping over one to pick up a dime is another.
Times like these I ask myself what is cheaper a $7.00 oil filter or an engine rebuild?
I would think cleaning a oil filter you are just borrowing trouble
But that is just my opinion and you Sir are entitled to your own
Please don't take this wrong I was not trying to offend you I any way.
God Bless.

If money is really that tight, you'd be better off to leave the oil filter alone and just change the oil. You could also drain the canister. A good oil filter should work through two normal oil changes.

dont try to clean an oil filter, very bad idea, as another poster mentioned it will usually blow holes in the filter media when you use compressed air to clean it, plus you dislodge particles trapped in the filter media soaking it and trying to clean it, all this and the holes only result in 1 thing, junk being run thru your engine bearings, either buy a new filter , or run the old one 2 changes, after all, the filter costs about the price of a burger and fries, just not that expensive

The oil goes through the bearings before going through the filter.

Doing it with a Fram is not a problem since independent tests show that Frams do very little filtering anyway. With any other brand it is penny wise and pound foolish

maybe long, long, ago when filters were made well, but modern
ones, no way
Oil filters are one of those things ya buy
whenever you are in a store, so they are always on the shelf.
That said, I do save a few old filters when changing a clean engines oil.
I don't clean em, just save them for the next junk tractor
I'm trying to get running.
drop the pan, clean, clean the canister, put in the clean used filter,
and some dirt cheap oil.
get it running. a few passes around the track to warm the
engine. Then, change the oil and put in a new filter and good oil.
