Oil Plunger

Hopefully here are pictures of the old oil plunger I just replaced. I just wanted to make sure this flat spot on the side was normal. Sorry about the pictures it was the best I could do.

It would be easier with a picture, I could get a shot tomorrow but on the front of the engine you will find a large nut (Page 112 of the I&T shop manual) Nothing is attached to it. Unscrew the nut and take the spring and plunger out and replace with a new one. Takes five minutes.
