Hi all,
I´m chasing an oil pump for my TEA 20-85mm.
I´ve come accross two brands which are well knowen...SPAREX & BareCO, not sure which brand is best, or even if there is any difference, is there a preferable of the two ? or is it 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
Thanks

[u:fcfa0a09a2]This is a personal opinion[/u:fcfa0a09a2], but I don't think the after market parts are the same quality as the original Ferguson/Standard Motor Co parts, however are probably suitable for a low usage hobby tractor. Some time ago I bought an after market timing chain and crank shaft and cam shaft sprockets (for my TEA20-85) and they were not to original quality - the crank shaft sprocket required machined out to fit and the timing chain was at the outer limit.

Both Sparex and BareCo provide an excellent service to older tractor owners and their prices are very competitive. Both suppliers parts [u:fcfa0a09a2]may[/u:fcfa0a09a2] come from the same or similar factories?

Is rebuilding an option instead of complete replacement? I may have a bad pump and John (UK) recommended replacing the rotor pack, citing Sparex part S61996.

I just rebuilt my oil pump from the kit off this site, the kit came with a aluminum main gear which after pressing on they expect you to drill and tap a setscrew between the gear and shaft to keep it from spinning, good luck, I even took it to a machine shop and they said the drill would just walk into the aluminum gear, ended up pressing the old steel gear onto the new shaft and just used the pump gears which had to be dressed slightly with a file to get them spin in the pump housing, pumps in and works........jeff

It appears complete new oil pump assemblies are not available from BareCo or Sparex, only the oil pump rotor assembly.

BareCo: Part No B2257 (MF Part No 827501M1)
Sparex: Part No S.61996 (MF Part No 827501M1, 827501M91)

This site sells:

Oil Pump Shaft & Rotor - Fits TEA20, TED20, FE35 with 80, 85 or 87mm Standard Motors Engine. (Part No: 827501M91) $67.31

My guess: six of one, half a dozen of the other!

Little confused here. Does this mean the Sparex, Bareco, and yt parts are all the same assemblies? I must say I don't much like the sound of jeff te48's experience...

[b:2de652da51]8n.[/b:2de652da51] Who would know? Their parts are generally OK but [u:2de652da51]in my opinion[/u:2de652da51] certainly are not made to the same standards as the original manufacturer's parts. I think the manufacturer's factories may be closer to Asia than the UK!

Agree - the alloy gear is a joke. I used a kit (from a different site - this one won"t export)and the old steel gear. I drilled the shaft / gear (as they were now similar material) and pinned it.

Bob, I didn't think anything was made in the UK anymore. :(

I doubt you could even call the new Jaguars British! - Even though they're better built than the British Leyland jobs!!
