Ok let me refrase the Question

I am asking does anyone that has or knows of someone that has a Colorado, do they like them or dont like them ?

I am not asking if i should get a ford or dodge
I am not asking if i would like ford or dodge better than chevy, gmc
I am not asking if i would like a full size or small ? ( as i own a duramax also)
Im not asking what should i do
As i dont care about anything other than what i am asking (yes call me touchy bla bla bla but thats not the topic either now is it ? )

now again this is one time i should have bit my lip but im gonna post anyway....

my neighbor has a colorado, 04 or 05, has over 100k on it. he likes the truck, good on fuel, comfortable interior, has had no problems with it. we have had a couple come thru the body shop here, pretty easy truck to work on. as it is not a full size pickup and you understand its limitations, (dont pull a 24 ft gooseneck with a dozer on it) the truck is fine.

Go to your local Checy dealer and have them show you all the service bulletins on that model that come up first before you buy. Then you can make a more informed decision.

I looked at Colorados before getting something else. I wanted a 4 cyl for gas milage. Drove the 4 cyl and it did not have enough power to suit me and the fuel milage rating was not that great. The larger engines had less fuel milage ratings. I thought the Colorado was a little large and heavy for a 4 cyl engine. This was in 2005.

My M-I-L had a trailblazer with that engine and an auto trannie, My opnion of the truck was that it rode and handled well, but it was horribly under powered and got horrible mileage like 14-16 mpg.

Other than that it had good fit and finish, Oh one problem they had was the transfer case not shifting properly, but I think GM fixed it by now.

I forgot about one a co-worker had, it was a '06 Colorado 5 cyl 4X4 crew cab short box. At 100,500 miles the block was ventilated via the 2 front connecting rods. He put in a reman motor and sold it.

just a thought here ? he had problems around 10000 miles huh? other then that it must have ran fine ? or he could have got a unlucky eng ? either way ? thanks for a honest input, & also ill probly never keep the pickup past 60-70thousand miles as by then its update time to me & i can still get good money outta them & not lose my A on it So again Thanks

He said it ran great even right up till it puked. Mileage was somewhat low 14-16 mpg highway. Felt it should have been better, that was the biggest complaint, not bad in my opnion.

ya i hear ya on the milage should have been better, our 01 has the 4.3 in it & has never got better than 15 but its also a 4x so that has its drawbacks, the 07 im lookn at has a updated 5cyl a 3.7 ltr or something like that in it they said its a little bigger than older one & should be more power & better mileage ? ya Ok ill find out soon i guess

My son-in-law had one with 5 cyl engine-lost oil
pressure at 9600 miles, also coolant in the oil.
dealer had the truck about 9 days, "rebuilt the
engine", they said...no charge at 17000 miles
it happened again.. they put a new engine in it,
no charge, and GM zone manager approved a new
warrenty.. 17000 was considered 0 for warrenty
purposes.

My friend has small chevy 4X4 and I have a ford Ranger he could not back it out of my pasture up a wet slope it just spun one tire and stopped. I do it all the time with my ranger pretty much told me not to get a Chevy beside they are cramped if you are over 5' tall.

Hello notadeere
I have a gmc canyon which is the same as the colorado.
I had 2 issues with the truck.First was front end, aligned at 9.000 miles. Just last week a new rack and pinion all under warranty.
There is also an issue with exhaust valves, mine is ok.The warranty was extendet to 70.000 miles by the company. Runs great average 19 to 20 miles per gallon in town. I got 25 mpg on hyghway.
it is a mid size not a compact!

sounds like most of it is recall things ? with a rebuilder u lose all warrenty but all the recalls are still in place so if it has a recall for any reason its always a free fix so that wont worry me,
I remember when we got the 01 S10 in 15000 miles had to replace the upper & lower ball joints cheap fix to me as i do my own work but for a person who would buy it used thats spendy fix labor wise parts was only 15.00 each so 60 total for all 4 not bad anyway ill shut up lol & Thanks

So,it already sounded as if you had mad up your mind, no Ford or Dodge. So why ask? Every one has lemons OR gems. I'm not lending you any money for it, buy what you want and like and enjoy the ride. Most of the equipment is repaired and aimed for the door, so we all set around and look for entertainment. Lighten up and laugh at those you don't agree with it just makes THEM madder.

Good Points
Radio(XM)/Stereo (CD)
Fuel mileage 15/25 average daily about 19 50 mile daily commute city/hwy
nice sized bed

Bad Points:
Uncomfortable seats/small backseats
poor trim quality lots of plastic and poor fit
engine (5cyl) isn't very responsive
Noisy (wind/road)
in and out of dealer a lot to correct recall/warranty issue
towing capacity isn't very good so I seldom use it for any work related activities
Tire wear (on 4th set of tires and three trips to the dealer to correct alignment problems)

Overall, after 96k, I wouldn't buy another and the re-sale isn't anywhere near what I would like.

I had one for 3 days as an insurance loaner. I insisted that if I were going to pay for full size truck fuel economy I was atleast going to be driving a full size truck. I agree with the other statements that the truck also seems chintzy and didn`t ride very well. I`d take a full size Chevy half ton any day over the Colorado and Chevy isn`t my normal brand of choice.

I am pretty happy with my truck.
I replaced the original plugs with Bosh 4'r
K&nN air filter, and mobil 1 in the engine.
Also I have a tanoe cover on it, that helps with the mileage also.

5 cylinder? You know, that cargo van whatever Dodge calls that thing (Sprinter???) is said to have a 5 cylinder diesel (option???) that's made by Mercedes Benz, so I hear. One would have to wonder about the plus's over a same CI six. Torque maybe?

I am seeing a lot of company pickups on the highway that are the Chevy or GMC version. Bigger than a compact, smaller than a fullsize 1/2 ton, big enough to get average jobs done for a median cost, I assume.

I have a 2005 colorado 4x4 and have 38,000 miles on it. I changed the front tires at 35,000. It has the 5 cylinder 3.5 engine. I has good power. I have pulled my 16 ft trailer with 5 cows and two calves. I pulled a super c farmall on a 16 foot trailer out of the hills of afton oklahoma with it and was suprised by the torque it had pulling the hills on the road. I would say I get somewhere between 15 to 20 mpg. Overall I like the truck. It is the LS model with the extended cab.
