I need help on what to do for a couple of rows of grapes,They haven't been cared for for a few years. Do I cut them back,or what? Any and All advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

i would prune them. I assume they are mature vines.

Find the main branch and start pruning the limbs coming off it to about 8" . Depending on the way they are trellised , you may have more than one main branch.

you might try doing an internet search on how to prune grapevines.

My experience with grape vines is smoking, or trying to smoke them. That wasn't something I tried the second time.

do a soil test around your vines as well, getting ph correct on grapes is important and it isnt going to cost squat to buy a bag of lime, its about 3 bucks.

if u remove all of the buds-- there will be no crop this year-- its hard to explain,(i think) tho i bet the extension service or google will have a good explaination-- i trimmed some so badly it took 2 years to get a crop-- becareful
