Old planter

Here soon I will be getting an old 2 row planter. Its a pull planter. I was wondering if it could be converted to 3 point? Would it affect its planting. I don"t know the make of the planter, but its from the 40"s or 50"s.

You can do anything with a torch and a welder. As long as it runs level,shouldn't be a problem.

If it works pulling- leave it as a pull type. Most of them had balance point/planter pivot close to wheel axle area- if you convert to 3pt you will have pivot at tractor axle area and may have drill blade raising and lowering while plating. Depends on how you convert- was short thread last year about a converted JD90/99? that was leaving sweet corn seed on top of ground at times. RN

I got an old planter, unidentified, that people tell me was horse drawn. It is converted to 3 point.

I would leave it as it is. With todays modern technology, if you decide to pull it with a four wheeler, you can pull it. If you decid to use it in the garden to plant your sweet corn, and don't want to use the tractor, you can always use a garden tractor as well. If yoo modify it for 3 point hitch, you will have to use the tractor. Also think of the resale value as an antique. This is my opinion any way.
