Old thread anomaly/odd behavior or restricted ?

The above two threads are found in TT. Both are off topic.
They are threads that have been revived after being dead a year or more.
They are now both three pagers.
When I go look at them I can see page one or page three, but can not get to page two.
If I am on 1, I can click page 3 and get page 3. But clicking next does nothing.
If on 3 and click 2 it goes to page 1.

It is like page 2 has been locked and not viewable.

This thread is also in TT and off topic but acts normal 👇

The anomaly exists via laptop and Fire tablet.

Since they are in Tractor Talk, they aren't subject to the locking. Kim will probably move them to Tales then lock them which has the unfortunate side effect of putting them in the current list. Weeding out all those old OT posts on ttalk is going to be a big job. In the future, the right sequence will be to locate them, lock them, then move them to tales before anyone can dredge them back up. Then they won't even show in the tales list of threads. Right now, all those old OT threads in ttalk (and tool talk) are going to appear in Similar threads and that will keep this happening if people don't look at the date.

The other comment disturbs me. They show fine with Threaded View option on. I'll shift to non Threaded View and try to recreate. It sounds like an unintended reaction in my Threaded View code doing something to the non-threaded option.

I've noticed this anomaly a few times too, it isn't wide-spread as far as I can tell but does happen from time to time. Basically you can view Page 1 and Page 3 but Page 2 just skips. It definitely isn't on the forum configuration side, i.e. you can't block a page in the middle of a long thread.

When I was looking at it deeper, it seemed that there were actually only two pages in the thread and not three. So instead of there being a Page One and Page Two, there is a Page One and Page Three with a blank Page Two, and Pages One and Three represent the thread in it's entirely. I probably didn't explain that well but basically it seems like a page numbering issue instead of a missing page.

Chris might be able to figure it out by looking at the raw database record.

Oh, now I'm understanding what you guys are saying. The paging at the forum / thread list is off. That is a weird one, might even be a bug in their code. Those paging blocks (1, 2, 3 etc) are meaningless if you have Threaded View option checked on in prefs but I didn't removed them. Threaded View has no concept of pages, it's all one page and I should have removed them if Threaded View is turned on. But they still shouldn't do what's being described here anyway. I'll look at it.

actually only two pages in the thread and not three.
I went back to look, I think you are right.
The first two threads I posted above have 44 and 48 posts on page one. Then the third page starts with post #45 and 49.

All posts on page 1 are numbered post 1, lol. But start with the correct post number on page 3.

P.S. I do not have thread view checked.

I think I see it. When running without Threaded View on, when page two is displayed, it's displaying all of the remainder of the posts and the page 3 link becomes meaningless. This could be an unintended bug in the the Threaded View code that's impacting non-threaded view.

Only 20 posts at a time are supposed to be displayed in the non-threaded view where as all posts are supposed to be displayed with threaded view on. My guess is that somehow subsequent pages are taking on the threaded view post maximum (which is really high).

Kim, are you running with Threaded View pref turned on. DoubleO7 is not. I assumed you are, but if you are seeing the same anomaly from the Forum/Thread list page (where it also has those page links), that's pertinent.

No, I do not have Threaded View turned on for my kpratt account.

Well, I've drawn a blank. It's not Threaded View option doing this. It may be a bug in their code. I'll pursue it with the developers and see what they say.
