Oliver 1250

I'm having a heck of a time getting my Oliver 1250 diesel to start. Starting fluid is the only way it will start, and even then it takes a while. I've bled the fuel lines, replaced the fuel and the filters seem o.k. Once it starts it runs just fine. Any suggestions?

I strongly urge you not to use starting fluid of any kind. It is cheaper to insall an external type heater, for your coolant, plug the heater in for about an hour and a half. I have a 1650, and if it is not plugged in, it is real stubborn to start. I hate using starting fluid, because it does more damage then good. External heaters run inbetween 850watts to 2000 watts. I use 1500 watt heaters in all my tractors. I have timmers set to turn on my 1650 every 1 1/2 hours, for 1 1/2 hours. And the other three, I have turn on every 2 hours for 1 hour. All my tractors are warm, as if on a summer day, and very easy to get strarted.

I'm not too familiar with those Fiat builts. Did they have a primary fuel pump of were they just gravity flow?
