Oliver 1265 in Bama

I have aquired a Oliver 1265.The lift doesnt work and the transmission is hung in a middle gear. Engine runs good.
I have ordered manuals and will try to fix.
I would appreciate comments about this tractor, its hydraulics, the shifter linkage and what might be wrong.

I've got a 1255. Never had the tranny cover off, the two machines have different transmissions but are otherwise very alike. Hydraulic fluid is the transmission fluid. Junk in transmission leads to clogged hydraulic screen. Just below starter, clean up screen. That should help, unless it's something else. Good luck.

I see you got the optional "hemorrhoid special" seat. Still remember when I got mine, from plowing all day on an Oliver 1550 with identical seat, in about 1982. One of those days when you wish you could have a "do-over".

Don't make the stupid mistake I made on mine when I had had it a couple of days. Some joker previous owner had the negative battery cable red so when I reconnected it after adding a rebuilt starter I grounded it wrong. Lots of smelly burning plastic! Ooops
...I now need to replace quite a bit of wiring! Great tractor though....having been used to a 550 it's no more powerful but I love the bird's eye view!
