Oliver 310 crankshaft.

Thanks to everyone who replied on my earlier post. I did find some new cranks for sale but I agree that a cast crankshaft isn't the best thing if the original was forged. Does anyone know of a new crank available that is forged? I have contacted some custom crank manufacturers that make forged cranks but they didn't even reply. I considered trying to buy a quantity of them and then reselling them but they didn't even take the time to say no. If anyone knows of a forged crank that is available I would appreciate it. I did find one used one that has been turned but they didn't know to what size. They want $850.00 for it and it would need shipped. I didn't really want to take a chance on getting it and having it be a size that I can't get bearings for.

I have one 310 crankshaft. It is ground 0.030
and I can get bearings for it.

We're working on getting them made out of the same material as original, C1046 steel. and they are probably going to have 8 counterweights on them. US made steel forging. been working on it for over a year now, and we're starting to put the pressure on the manufacturer. I'm thinking they're going to be in the 1200-1500 range.

As an automotive tech, and comparing this to the CAR crankshafts, I wish you luck getting a low volume, forged crankshaft for $1200-$1500. Especially one made in USA and have this much meat on it.
I hope you get the job done. I"m just not holding my breath.

We're using a existing forging die, and are looking at a run of about 100.

Are you looking to sell it? I won't have any problems getting bearings for that size.

It would be great if you can get them for that price. It might save a few 310 motors from the scrap yard.

I wouldn't run anything ground more than .010 in the 310.. and work it..

I am working on a 1750 with stock horsepower. Do you think I need to worry about a crank ground more than 10 under with the low horsepower of the 1750 compaired to the newer series tractors? I have worked on most of the other Olivers except the ones with the 310 motor. This is my first 310 so I have been a little worried to start with. I know a few people with 1750s with the 310 and their motors seem to last forever with stock horsepower.
