Oliver 550 carburetor options

Im trying rebuild my carburetor on my oliver 550, and the manual says its a zenith 12427. Problem is i cannot find a rebuild kit for this model anywhere at all. Is there another (hopefully affordable) carburetor that would fit?

Have you found any identification on the carb itself. It might not be the same carb a manual shows, things get changed over the years.

It says zenith on it, cant see any numbers but it looks exactly like the picture. Ill give them a call thanks

I dare say a good number of those had a Marvel carb. All States lists a carb kit for a Marvel TSX811 for a 550 and 2-44, so maybe look for a rebuilt or rebuildable 811?

In all the 550s I've seen they were Marvels. Not to say someone did not put a zenith on it. Even the books show a Marvel. There were several TSX model numbers. Caveat It could be an extremely late one and I do not now about them.

My tractor is a 1958 model, i have the original manual and it says zenith 12427.

I've got two 66s. A 1950 and a 1954. The 50 has a Marvel and the 54 has a Zenith. I had a 70 with a Zenith, but that and the late 66 are the only two Olivers I've ever owned that didn't have a Marvel, so they did use them, just not as common I don't think.

Probably Mr. Lund is correct as usual. I just have not seen them. My personal preference would me the Marvel. I have a case DC with a Marvel and have a spare too. Most had Zenith so it is a rare setup. I would try various Oliver suppliers and look on Ebay for parts.

I'd be shocked if a 12427 it isn't a model 61,62,267, etc series. Just call any of McDonald (as said above), Carb Dr., Mike's carb parts, etc.

They'll have what you need. Skip the Amazon and ebay listings that show your kit available unless it's from one of the sellers above. The foreign generics are so bad for quality and fitment these days.

The 58 model had a smaller carb like the super 55. I have a buddy parting a 58 out if you cant find one. It is a Marvel Schebler.
