Oliver 60 Generator

I am working on a Oliver 60. It has stopped charging. I am assuming it has been converted to 12volts since I measure the battery and it is 12 volts. It has a generator on it with a voltage regulator that sits on top of the generator. The charging wire routes through the amp gauge. The amp gauge is not showing in charge.

Does someone know how to test the generator and volt regulator?

How can I make sure the tractor has been converted from 6 to 12 volts? It does have a 12volt coil on it and that ford resistor.

I found a website with some pretty good information on it. You will have to distinguish whether your generator has two or three brushes. If you have a regulator on it I would say you have a two brush generator. Some times on the serial number tag on the generator they say whether they are 6 or 12 volt. Simple way to tell a 6 from a 12,a 6,the diameter of the housing is the same the entire length. A 12,the diameter is smaller at the rear around the brushes.

Put a voltmeter across the generator. The regulator should be marked and if it is a delco it will tell you + or - ground.

If the tag on the generator is still there, that may tell you if it is 12V or 6V. The original 6V generator was a Delco 1101363 or the Delco service replacement was 1101379.
