Oliver 66 grills

Hi! I bought a 1948 model 66 and it came partly disassembled. I got 5 different grille pieces with it, two for one side, three for the other. They each have seven horizontal slits in them. Other than being either left or right hand side they are identical mechanically. I tried to fit a couple on the nose cone of the tractor and it seemed they weren"t lining up correctly. I also received some other parts with this machine which evidently go to a larger 6-cylinder Oliver. Is there any way for me to tell for sure these grills go to a 66? What other models would they fit? Were 66 grills interchangeable with any other models? I"m looking to sell the extras.

the 66 were the same as the 77 and the differance from an 88 is the 88 has a step on the bottom outside corner

So are all three models' grille pieces the same size-- are the 66 and 77 grille pieces interchangeable? Also-- I received 3 different nose cones with the tractor, none of which were mounted. Two were smaller, I assume one of them came with the 66. The third is considerably bigger. Is the nose cone bigger for 77, or do 66 and 77 use same nose cone? I can't find any part numbers on these items. Do they have part numbers stamped anywhere?

Also, I just went out and looked at them again. The grill pieces seem to match up fairly well on the one large nose cone, but not on the smaller nose cone that fits my tractor! They just don't fit up right on the small one. Now what? There is no step at the lower outside corner. There is a small cutout at the lower inside corner on every grill piece-- like right where the bottom of the grill comes to the centerline of the tractor just above the front wheels. Any photos I can find of other people's tractors, these parts are covered up with the medallion and a centerpiece on the grille that says Oliver, etc. I have the little centerpiece but no medallion. SO-- they fit the bigger nosecone. Did the 77 use the same nosecone or a bigger one than the 66? If the grills are identical, why do they fit up on the big nosecone and not on the little one? Thanks for the help.

All the sheetmetal is the same on the 66 as the 77 except for the hood and triangle side covers. and the 88 peices are all bigger

66 and 77 nose cones will interchange, as will the grills. The center strip will as well, but their is a difference in 66 and 77 centerstrips, as the crank hole is lower in one than the other. Front side panels are the same, but the rears are longer on a 77 than a 66. 88's take much bigger grills, a bigger nose cone, and bigger side panels. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I think I'll be able to look at a whole 77 tomorrow and that should answer some of my questions once and for all. It seems I must have a nose cone from an 88, since I have two small ones and one big one. The grills seem to fit the 88 nose cone better than the two little ones, but I'll know better after I look at buddy's 77 tomorrow.
