oliver 7800 combine

Hi! I have a White 7800,had the gas engine rebuilt by a racing enthusiast, and installed an electronic distributor from summit auto. The "computer" box is mounted on the front side of the bin away from most of the engine heat.It has burn proof valve cover gaskets, high volume oil pump and the spark wires are tied up well away from the manifolds.Fuel delivery is a challenge, the original sediment bowl was too small if there was even a small bit of dirt in it the engine would start bogging, finally put on a large glass sediment bowl and a large electric fuel pump down on the frame behind the grain elevator to assist the mechanical pump. Also had to drain the fuel tanks and get the chaff out. I have thought about changing it over to diesel but it looked like too big a challenge, the whole engine compartment, rad, bell housing and everything else would have to be totally redesigned so we decided to upgrade the existing engine. It works pretty good just take the air hose to it every morning and clean off all the dust! This would be an awesome project, there certainly can't be too many of these combines left.

There was nothing cooler sounding than than v-8 7800 combines back in the day with that dual exhaust sticking out under the rotary screen.
