i hava an 88 oliver diesel saw another article on here talking about a 320 power unit engine swap wrere would be a start to find one of these engines also what hp are they i think i got somewhere around 30 hp in the 88 now it is stock what can be done to boost power without runing the tractor

If dependeds what kind of increase in power you want. You could overhaul your engine with super 88 pistons and sleeves to increase the displacement before you swaped engines.

An 1100 gas Massey used the 320 waukesha engine as well as some power units. This is a dry sleeve engine, instead of a wet sleeve like the waukesha in your 88. Instead of buying a different engine, you could save some money and build up what you have. The jointly built Oliver/Waukesha diesel is a good engine. Originally an 88 had 3 1/2" pistons, most rebuild kits upgrade to the 3 3/4" like a Super 88/880. Also the Super 88/880 head had larger intake valves. Another option is to put on a Roosa Master injection pump. This would require a front and rear timing cover, a couple gears, fuel lines, and a few other things. These parts can be sourced from a late 880, 1600, or 1800 diesel. Try to use a dyno to tune in the engine, just turning up the pump will create more smoke and you will lose power. Just the 3 3/4 pistons and a well tuned engine will put you in the 55-60 horsepower range pretty easy. The next two upgrades more yet. Your 88 will still be very reliable for farm use and you will enjoy the extra power. Send me an email if you want some more ideas.

spend your money on bigger head valves port work etc. these engines need air to make power ,can 3.7-8 pistons bee used if you shave dome off?and make them zero dek height.i heard of using them with 1650 rods and pistons, still would be easier with a 310 ,283 302 or 320 gas engine

JUST WANT TO MAKE IT COMPETITIVE IN WHATEVER CLASS I CAN PULL DECENT IN NOT REALLY LOOKING TO SPEND THOUSANDS ON IT JUST HAVE SOMETHING DECENT PUING WE ALREDY TOOK OFF HYDRAULICS PTO AND BELT PULLEY HAVE TO SEE WHAT IT WEIGHS WHAT CLASS-GEAR WORKS BEST WITH THESE THRACTORS IT HAS 13.6 FIRESTONES FIELD N ROAD ON THE BACK ANYBODY GOT ANY PICS FOR IDEAS ON HITCH AND WHEELIE BARS THAT WORK GOOD IM NEW TO THIS AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP

Well for starters Increase the displacement of your engine using super 88 (265cu/in) pistons and sleeves. Start there and take it one improvement at a time.

I have a complete roosa master injection pump from an oliver 1800B that had the indirect injected 310.
