Oliver 880 Value

I am looking at an 880 gas narrow front tractor. It has a few sheet metal parts that I could use for my 880. It has been sitting for 3-4 years, engine is loose but intake is cracked above the carb. Tires are usable, sheet metal is very good, has 3 pt hitch. The guy wants me to make an offer but I really don"t know what I should offer that will not insult the owner and not pay too much. I would appreciate a rough estimate as to its value.

If there's anything I've learned watching these tractors on auctions in the last year, year and a half, they aren't worth as much as collectors would like to think they are. In the real world,a tractor like that, probably $1000-1200.
I bought a 1600 gas with a cracked block and a few parts missing last spring for $600. A decent running 1600 gas with a wide front on the same sale brought $1700. Saw a good running 1650 diesel with a wide front last fall bring $2200.

Just depends on what it is worth to you. Are you buying it strictly for sheet metal or do you really want the tractor? I would think $800-1000 would be a safe bet to where you could get your money back if you could. Good luck!!!!!

A friend of mine sold his 880 at an auction a few years ago. He had to ovehaul the pto and tune up the engine. With a rough loader and worn out tires it brought $2,500. I wouldn't have paid more than $1,500 for it. As for the one your looking at, I'd say $800-$1,200, if the sheetmetal is in good shape.

Boy I wish we had those oppurtunities here in NY. There just aren't that many Olivers kicking around, running anyway. You could buy a rolling chassis wih flat tires and rusted out tinwork for that :)
