Oliver Disk Value

I was wondering what the value of a rough Oliver disk would be. I believe it is a 261. It is a 12 foot base with 2 foot manual fold wings for a total of 14 feet overall. It doesnt have a cylinder, the berrings on the gangs are froze, the blades are worn pretty bad and a couple need replaced. Then it has the usual disk wear. It has newer tires and tubes on it. The guy I got it from used to own the Oliver dealer in my town and he got it new with his 1850. I was going to fix it up and re-sell it but I need money so I can start farming/loosing money this summer.

I would think a couple hundred at the most in that condition. I also have my eyes open for an Oliver disk, but really cant justify paying much for the "right color green" when you can get an old JD or IH for next to nothing.

There was an Oliver disc for sale local. They were only asking $400 and said it was in good shape minus cylinder.I think it was a 14 or 16 ft.

The manual wing fold models just don't bring too much that I've seen. We bought one a couple of years ago for light use work in average shape like you mentioned but with a cylinder for $200. You got to get down to the 12 foot and smaller ones before the price seems to go up and that pretty much is the same through the main brands as far as I can tell.

With the price of parts as it is, I can't imagine you'd ever come out on putting money into an old disk for resale. Buyers of implements tend to overlook faults or repairs, and buy on price alone, especially if the repairs (bearings, etc.) aren't obvious.

Here are some pictures. Would you think I could get about $400 out of it. I want to sell it to kind of offset the cost of a planter i want to buy.

My uncle sold his 15' case disk for 500 and the phone rang off the hook. You might take those wings off and patch up a few blades on the main disc with those off the wings, slap some paint on it and it might bring 400-500. Seems the 10 - 14' discs sell good because people use them to disc between new tree rows in this area and small hobby farms can pull it with their small tractors. Just what i have seen in this area.
