oliver starter

Does anyone know if there is an after market starter for a 1655 oliver tractor? I have a delco remy on it but was wondering if an auto store like oreillys would have one that matches up. Any help would be great.

That tractor takes a Delco Remy starter. I had a type 30 on mine and it never cranked the engine fast enough to start properly so I went to the auto parts back then and bought a type 35 starter, fit perfect. Any starter rebuilder in your area can fix you up. Curious if you are having the same problems I had with starting?

Here is a picture of the one I got from Maibach for my 1650. I also have one on my 880. I will use this style starter exclusively. They turn the engine over MUCH better than the Delco starters. Like switching from 6v-12v.

You have guessed it correctly. In cold weather, it is hard to crank over and get started. Hense, the starter problems. Do you happen to have the part number off of that starter? This sounds like it will fix my problem. I put a new delco on about 5 years ago for around $250.00. So I am willing to try anything.

It was just the next size more powerfull starter. I was told to do that by a guy who knew Olivers and all that I did was go to the auto parts and tell the guy that I want a type 35 in exchange for my core 30 Delco Remy, I did not need any part number, all those starters have the exact same housing I guess. When the parts guy called his starter supplier the supplier asked "what, does he have a Oliver tractor?" Must have been a pretty common problem. Anyways, the type 35 solved all my problems.

bought one from smittys tractor parts in ohio for 180 bux US funds....all i can say is wow...the old 1650 starts without preheater even now with 5 degrees of frost or more

I orderer a high torque high rpm starter from Maibach tractor, cheaper than a rebuild on mine or even the reman, so will give it a try and pray for the best. Mine was shot, junk, capoot.
Has anyone else here tried the aftermarket starter from Maibach"s ?
thanks
