Opinon on a One-Eighty diesel

Was talking to a guy the other day and he told of a 180 Diesel that he has and was thinking of getting rid of it. Apparently there is a small amount of antifreeze in the oil. Are they wet sleeves? Not sure if it could be a o-ring, head gasket or possibly cavatation. I guess it ran pretty good, he parked it upon finding the antifreeze. Everything works, with the exception of 3rd gear, it has a tendency to jump out under a heavy load. He told me I could have it for scrap price. He said the tires are fair. Sheet metal is supposedly staight and complete. I haven't went to look at it yet. Do you guys think it is worth it?? I don't really have a use for it, maybe I would use it to make some hay or do some spraying. Thoughts??? Thanks in advance!

That 301 engine was around til the end of Allis, good engine lots of parts available tranny was a problem you learn to live with.

Hell yeah , thats a good deal !!! If you dont want it , i,m interested !!!! Wet sleeve engine , it,ll prolly need an overhaul , but if you do it yourself its cheap ; the transmisson can be redone to with A+I parts , pretty resonable - really resonable if you do that yourself too , labors the biggest expensine on the transmisson as the whole rearend has to be torn down just to get to it ; or you can make a thing to hold it in gear very easy - email me if you dont want it !!

Thanks Doug..I'm going to go look at it this weekend. If I decide not to take it, I will let you know. By the way, it is located in Northwest Indiana if that makes a difference to you...
