In one of our pastures, we have a giant ash tree that has just died in the last month. I have not yet brought it down to check if it is half rotten or still mostly solid, but I have a question or two to ask.
How advisable or realistic is it to try to have that old tree milled into some sort of furniture or memento? I live in central Texas near College Station and I know of no wood mill within a one hour radius. East Texas with the logging should have something, but not here.
Do any of you have any suggestions on how to proceed? If nothing can be done, I will cut and split it up for firewood.
Thanks.
