OT barrel for shotgun

Anyone know of a good source for a turkey barrel to go on a Remington 1100. I assume would need to be 28" or 30" full choke or maybe a 28" with a choke on it. Gonna check pawn shops but thought there might be some magic source out there somewhere that someone knows about. Thanks

also found 1 used numrich gun parts .com go down the manufactures list find rem than shot guns model 1100 parts than barrels good luck ..

I have killed quite a few turkeys with my 1100. I have a plain ole 30", full choke, non-vent rib.
The gun is 2 3/4". I wish I had a shorter barrel. If you have choke tubes, or have them retrofitted into an existing barrel then the lenght should not matter much.

Look up "Hastings" They used to offer replacement barrels with choke tubes alread in them.

One of these days I am gonna look into buying the taps and tools necessary to install my own choke tubes. Mostly just to say I did it. I may change my mind though when I check up on the cost involved.

Good luck, Gene

I've had good luck with 30" with modified choke insert screwed into. Also I have open, full choke screw-ins.---lha

i checked for a turkey barrel on my 870, and was shocked to see a price tag of 300.00 bucks. so i just went and bought the mossberg grand slam turkey shotgun for 350.00. slammed a couple nice toms with it already, ohhhh i can't wait till may!!!

I"m actually getting this info for my Dad. He says he has a spare 26 inch improved cylinder barrel that he is thinking about having a choke put on and using it for turkey hinting. How do you think this would perform? Thanks

Having a spare barrel threaded for choke tubes will work if the barrel thickness is sufficient. Check with a gunsmith.

In saying that, I have hunted with a 26" Remington 1187 for about 10 years and have had wonderful success with it. it will pattern consistently out to 40 yards with the full turkey choke that came with it. I have some friends that have specialty turkey chokes that they have purchased that pattern well to around 50 yds, but I would rather have them 30 yds or closer.

length of barrel is your preference, wont make one bit of difference, long barrels give a longer sighting plane for long shots on high flying geese and things ,they make no difference in the pattern.and since a longer barrel means more movement your spare 26" would be even better for turkeys.A more important thing would be to know how long your shots would be..if you believe all the bs about you must shoot turkeys at 70 yards, then by all means spend the money and buy a good full choke,or even a extra full.If you want to kill turkeys realistically ,at true ranges you will be shooting them at,either use the barrel you have now with some hevi-shot or other good ammo, or maybe a modified barrel with good ammo.dont believe the crap you see on tv told by guys that sell chokes for a living,10 to one in normal turkey hunting situations in most parts of the country, you wont even see one more than 25-30 yards away.ideal range for a modified or imp choke!I constistantly shoot them with a 28 ga muzzloader with no choke!I know most folks will disagree, but on called turkey, the true ranges are normally quite short.i hunt in western okla where there is little to no cover most the time.you can quite literally see turkeys for two miles,in fifty years or more of hunting them, ive never shot one over 30 yards.you want some fun? try hunting them with a pistol!

Thankls for the good info. This is one of those deals where my Dad has had one situation last yr where he wishes he could reach out that extra 10 yds or so. I have told him(and he knows)in our country here, it is going to be quite seldom to even be able to see one beyond 30 yds..I will pass on your info. Thanks
