OT Bee Stings

I use the old mud trick to pull the stingers out. Sounds like you probably got quite a few - I would take some Benadryl.

Thanks I did pop a couple of those right away. These guys suprised me. It was almost dark and had rained. I didn't know they were active at times like this.

Adolphs Meat Tenderizer works great for bee stings and jelly fish and man o war stings as well. Dampen the skin and rub it in; it is granular so it helps scrub the area. The enzymes break down the protein in the venom and neutralizes it. For bee stings if rubbing it in doesnt help enough make a paste and hold it in place with a bandaid or more.

As a beekeeper you would think that I would have a magic potion for stings...but I don't. I wish I did! You guys in Rapp. County got a little bit more of that storm then we did in Stafford!

Take some Benydral if you have any. If you feel your throat starting to tighten and begin to hve trouble breathing GET TO THE NEAREST emergency room ASAP. ggp

Hey Worker we did get hit pretty hard. They were tracking north east. Lot of trees down, 729 blocked by a big Locust.
I did a paste of baking soda and let it dry. Seems to have cooled the sting.

I stick a penny on them right away. Works good for me. Swelling goes down and stinging sensation leaves in a few minutes

Another item to consider would be to get and keep on hand a 'Sawyer Extractor". They can usually be purchased at a Walmart. They extract the venom from the wound by a negative suction. I had a little girl get stung by a wasp, screaming like a banshee, she quieted down fairly quickly after the Sawyer Extractor sucked out the "sting". Multiple stings will keep you busy for a bit but will get the venom out.
They cost about $12 to $14 dollars and are good to keep around.

Bees are ornery, especially on dark, cloudy days. Apparently not being to use the sun for navigation is frustrating to the little buggers.
Best to give them good clearance, if you know where they are.

Well #1 please call them what they are not likely to be bees but likely to be wasps Bees are our friends and we need them and I hate it when people hammer them for what they are not. That said take some vitamin C and also rub vinegar over them. By the way if they are bee stings you need to remove the stinger and you have to do that the correct way or inject more vimon (sp) Also helps to take a benadril pill

Hey Old is a Yellow Jacket a bee or a wasp?
I didn't see these guys clear enough to know what they were other than they were lighting me up in the semi darkness.
I know we need Bees and that they perform invaluable work. But I have also been stung pretty good by Honey Bees one time.

Yellow jacket is a small breed of wasp they can sting you many many times where as a bee can only sting you one time and doing so in turn kills them. Bee 99% of the time will leave you alone as long as you do not pinch them or attack there hive which is hard to do since bees nest in trees and other such things in the wild but yellow jackets on the other hand next in the ground and if you run over there nest yep they attack and they attack hard.
I am a former bee keeper and I always hate it when people attack bees for what a wasp does

My Dad always had a nose spray bottle in the tractor tool boxes with gasoline in them. Always worked to kill the sting.

Again not likely to have been bees but one of the many breeds of warps which are to blame for 99.9% of all stings that people get. I hate and I will say it again I hate to see bees get bad mouthed by those that have not learned better. Former bee keeper here by the way. I have never gotten stung by a bee unless I did something to get them up set and bees do not nest in the ground by the way but yellow jackets do

Evidently you haven't encountered any of these in Missouri.

According to Wikipedia and my lifetime experiences Bumblebee nests may be found within tunnels in the ground made by other animals,

The Only ones I am actually "Cautious of" are TRUE Bumble Bees...
Those are some MEAN BUGGERS...!!
So, we enjoy swatting the "Boreing Variety" with Badminton Rackets..
But, we never molest the other bees..

Have several frends that are pharmacist and they say steak tenderizer will work if used right a way. They claim it breaks down the protein in the venom.

sounds gross ,but i spit on it. dont know why it works, but it does for me.my wife (who's much more how shall we say ,refined) uses steak tenderizer on the kids.

I agree on the Bumblebees being VERY MEAN.
There's also some that are called Ground Hornets.
