OT: Corn Moisture

Tested some corn the other day....21% and 23%.
I'm in northern Indiana. the corn is 108 day and 111 day...awful dry for this time of year I thought. We are going to have issues with standability this year...anybody else like this?

Aroud here (NW Iowa) 108-111 day corn is a little on the late side but some guys do plant a little of it hoping for a good fall. Just guessing, but corn of that maturity would be in the 25-30% range yet. Some early corn (98-101 day) is coming out at 17-20%, but we have some fairly large areas of down corn that is being harvested regardless of the moisture. I've heard there is some stalk rot in some hybrids.Good luck with harvest. Jim

I'm a little south of you in Illinois. As posted on the combine site, last Saturday the Dekalb 109 day combined sample tested 19.8 and 19.9%. This is triple stack with the required refuge. Also flew on Headline, so don't have any standability problems, nor expect any. However, can sure tell the non-BT corn because it has a weaker stalk likely due to corn borers. This was COC.

Here in SE Iowa its running 17% to 21% for that 110 day stuff.

2.8 maturity beans are 11-13% with those darn green stems.
