OT: Deere skid loader

I realize this isn't necessarily the right forum, but since there isn't a skid loader forum on this site I thought I would post this here. If anyone knows of a skid loader forum somewhere, please point me in that direction. With that said, here's my question: I have a JD 240 skid loader, and the analog gauge for the engine oil pressure doesn't work. I can buy a replacement gauge from Deere, but you need to buy all 4 analog gauges on one board. I haven't asked the price yet, but I'm sure I'll have to take out a loan to pay for it. Has anyone ever fixed one of these gauges or found a reasonable replacement? I've seen a lot of Deere's 200 series skid loaders with dead gauges in the console.

on the crawler forum we talk some about skidloaders. It's lower on the drop-down list than this forum, back at the main page. Do you know how to use a drop-down list by clicking the pointer beside the search box?

Can't give you any meaningful info on the gauges, but by owning a JD420 and a new Gator, from experience, you may be better off buying a new skidster after finding out what John Deere wants for parts. I had to buy a 12 inch shaft splined on both ends with a simple bearing on it. Price was $260.00. Valve seat came loose on the Onan engine and the dealer wanted over $2500.00 for a short block. I bought a whole new motor with new starter, manifold, ect. off the internet for less than $1500.00.

When you say the gauge doesn"t work, I assume you"ve already checked out the sender. (cheaper fix). Might consider leaving the inop gauge in place, and add a an oil gauge somewhere in the cab. Might be able to "tee" into the system where the sender is.

The dash/gauge cluster for a 250 JD (are you sitting down) is about $500. Guess how I know. That board also controls the hydraulic locks for the boom/bucket and wheels. The solenoids on the foot petals are know for shorting out, and burning the board up (according to the JD service guy). They make a plug in relay to prevent this for $75.00 and 5 minutes to install. Thanks for telling me after the fact! You guessed it, I got the relay for the new dash.
