OT - driving directions in MI

Need to know the best route fron Muskeogn, MI to Coldwater, MI.
Online sites say 96 to Grand Rapids, south to 94 then east to 27 and south to Coldwater.

What about 31/40/89/27 into Coldwater? It looks shorter.

Opinions???

I live 15 miles from Muskegon and go thru Coldwater frequently for work. I would just take 96 from Norton Shores east to 69 in Lansing then take 69 south to Coldwater. The whole 40/89 route is all two lane road, not something I want to take to make any time.

I live 20 mi north of Lansing and have been to both Coldwater and Muskegon and I'd take the route as blinwmiaol suggests.

Definitely take 69 South from 94... 27 is all 2 lane that would take you through downtown Marshall, Tekonsha and Girard before you ended up in downtown Coldwater.

Once you get off of 69 at exit 13 (US 12) head West to get to downtown Coldwater...

I live about 15 miles from Coldwater... actually I was there tonight...

I live 6 miles from Coldwater, and have run to Muskegon many times. If you don't want to leave the interstate, take 96 to 131 south, to 94 east, to 69 south. If you don't mind some two lane and want to see some of Michigan, email me. I'll give you some ideas.

Good idea to leave Muskegon since Norge is gone, Cannon Wyatt and Cannon foundries all gone, plating shops all gone, Muskegon Piston ring plant gone, furnituire plant closed up, and even the horse race track folded. Guess they still make bowling pins at the Brunswick plant though.

What happened to the Coninental engine plant? The Army used a lot their engines in their vehicles back in the 1950's. They made a lot of gas engines for the M47 and M48 tanks. They were 1790 cid aircooled engines. When the M60 came along they used their 1790 diesel. The M88 Recovery Vehicle used their engines too. They're made not far from me in York PA. They used their multi-fuel engines in a lot trucks too. We ran drawbar and cooling tests on all these vehicles. Here's the Heavy Field Dynanmometer we used. Hal

The continental engine plant was right downtown and it was bulldozed several years ago when they "Cleaned up" the downtown area. I think Teledyne merged with Continental and then in 1997 General Dynamics bought some interest in the company to make gun turrets. Not sure what is there now. Seems sand casting is dirty in the eyes of the EPA.

96 to 131 to 94 to 69 and get off at the 13 mile stick and watch the cops between the 25 and the 13 mile stick on 69 especially if your driven a big truck.

Why in the world would a person want to waste time going south on 131 and then get on 94 at all? Skip all that and only use 2 roads, 96 and 69.
