I planted some annual rye grass last fall after I chopped silage corn off some low wet ground that has been corn for a lot of years because it won't grow alfalfa. I took two cuttings of hay off of it this year. Because it was so dry,I took the second cutting late,it had gone to seed. Most of the seed ended up on the ground and I thought it might sprout after some rains that we had shortly after I cut it. Well,it didn't. Meanwihile the third cutting didn't come on. I checked last week and could pull the stubble right up,the roots were dead. Soooo,I hauled a lot of manure on it last week, then disced it in on Tuesday after an inch and a half of rain. Guess what I found this morning. A carpet of new rye grass in rough ground with small stones turned up all over. I took the cultipacker down this morning behind the Oliver 66 since it's lite and has narrow tires. Hope I didn't kill it,but it was too rough to take hay off the way it was. Don't know whether to be grateful that it's growing or agrivated that it came on in such a rough mess.

My opinion : Always thank the Lord for what ever he see's fit to send you as he controls it and we are only the recievers and are very small in the big Picture of life on this Earth.
