Howdy,
My wife watches DIY TV, this guy Holmes has her all worked up thinking our house may not be fit for habitation. It's my opinion that he uses scare tactics to make his show interesting. Last nite he told the homeowner that his furnace venting was dangerous and could cause an explosion. It seems if the high efficency furnace intake and vent pipes are within 3 ft of the central ac motor/compressor and both units are running at the same time and both malfunction at the same time (furnace burps and sends out unburned gas and ac unit shorts out and causes a spark) then you will have an explosion. So if it's a matter of code why not just tell the homeowner and not panic the whole neighborhood (and my wife)?
