OT - Impliment prices

I found an auction this coming weekend. Unfortunatley I can't attend due to previous committments but I'm thinking about leaving a few bids with the auctioneer on some very decent looking equipment they have on the sale bill. Below are some numbers I have in my head that I would be willing to pay. I'm sure they are all on the low side but for an auction, and for the equipment, do they seem reasonable?

Imco 5 1/2' box blade - $150
Rhino ATH720 6' finish mower - $300
unknown rough cut mower - $250
3 pt. boom - $75

I think you are in the ball park on the numbers you listed.....but I'd want to look before I handing out bidding riights.

guess i'll have to bid these #s then. ;)

Imco 5 1/2' box blade - $151
Rhino ATH720 6' finish mower - $301
unknown rough cut mower - $251
3 pt. boom - $76

For Central Ohio your numbers are low by almost half, especially the finish mower. But if that is all you are willing to pay take a shot at it.

Ditto for here in SW Michigan.

Worth a shot. A couple years ago I attended a farm auction, and went to look at a parts tractor, and a side delivery rake. The tractor went for more than I was willing to pay, and I had decided I did not want the rake after looking at it. I happened to be close by when the bidding started on the rake, and the bidding slowed quickly to $150. This was a fully functional rake, however it was not a NH (about the only thing anyone in this area wants). I ended up buying the rake for $200, and have used it two years with no problems whatsoever so far. Ironically I also paid $200 for a NH round baler a few years back and have baled with it since with only minor repairs to keep it running. If either of them die tomorrow I am still ahead and could sell for scrap. The same auction where I bought the rake several nice fast hitch items to fit a Super C Farmall sold to a scrap buyer. Wished afterward I had bought those items and resold to someone who could have used them.

Disappointing news today. I won't be able to even think about leaving a bid on these items anymore. Had to drop my truck off at the shop today (just don't have the time to do it myself) and its going to take at least $1200 to get it back...new front wheel bearings on both sides, new brake pads on the front and turning the rotors :( I'm really not looking forward to picking it up, and it pretty much freezes all spending on my various projects for a while. Just one of the many perks to owning a big boy truck ;)

carpetfarmer, I feel your pain! Similar situation... hay to pay for (cha-ching!), manure spreader repairs to pay for (needed a whole new apron chain and drive sprocket, had to send it to the local independent implement dealer), car repair needed ('00 Expedition just clunks instead of starting), tune up on 8n and carb rebuild needed on it and a 9N, and had paid for tree removal and some repairs from the June 29 storm that insurance didn't cover.

Was sick last week at a sale where I saw a pristine JD 4300, about 1,000 hrs. go for ($5,500) about half what they ask for them around here, also a like new 2007 Kioti 45 h.p. go for $9,000, again about half price. Wish I had the bucks for either one. Sigh.....

1200? That sounds a bit high for pads, turn rotors and wheel bearings. Makes me wonder is you are not getting quoted on full labor for the wheel bearing then again full labor for the brake job. There should be a price break on the labor can buy the time it's down for the brakes there isn't much more to do for the bearings.

Depends on the bearings. If it's a newer truck, they are hub assemblies and they aren't cheap...

I know that, did my Suburban this past spring. But I'm figuring 200 for the bearings (my cost), 80 for the pads, 30 to turn the rotors.....and almost 900 for labor?

Rick

Yeah, its a 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 with a Duramax. It's not just a simple replace the bearings, the entire hub assembly has to be replaced...about $500 per side for parts and labor. Brake pads will be roughly $100 with $35 per rotor to have them turned, and it's $56 just to have them hook it up to the computer to figure out why it surges when it idles...it runs fine, but just curious to see if its something I should really look into. We'll see what he says when I pick it up tomorrow.

Mine is a 98. Complete hub too. I think you are being charged for complete labor to do the brake job and complete labor for the hubs when most of the labor for the hubs is done when doing a brake job. That should be adjusted.

Surges when it idles? vacuum leak or Gm EGR valve, Ford and that other company....air idle bypass.

Rick

We"ll see, those were the estimates, but he did say he would work with me the best he could and it should be lower since he is doing everything on both sides and such. I like to plan for the worst (if I plan ahead for $1300 and it totals out to be $1000, it just makes it hurt less when writing the check as opposed to the other way around). I should be picking it up today and will definitly be looking over the price breakdown before I pay for everything and get it straightened out if it"s not right.
