Can"t go anywhere without getting this message..
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Any advice. Tried to look on line but keeps giving this message so I can"t go anywhere.

It's mal-ware, and you have probably gotten it from all of those porn sites you have been surfing. (just kidding)

First, go to start>settings>control panel>add remove programs.

Remove everything that don't look like it is something you want, and you don't understand what it is.

That usually fixes the Ole Lady's computer that the kids use, if it don't, post back, and I will try to go to second.

Oh, yeah...

I meant to tell you while it is broken, and you are working on fixing it, download FireFox and use it.

I prefer IE, but when it is broken, you can still do what you want with FireFox while you are fixing it.

Like Dunk says plus try & get the kids to use Firefox cause it's not as apt to get a virus either.

Thanks..right or wrong I did a restore and seems to be better. Guess I'll have to buy one of these registry cleaner things the free version detected a bunch of problems.

Both of the links I emailed you are freeware.

I don't think you need to buy anything.

JMO.

Try going into "safemode" by pressing the F5 key on boot up. Select safemode with networking, which means it will load just what you need to run a computer and you should be able to get on line.(hope you are running XP) From there you would be able to do scans for spyware, malware, viruses, etc. Make sure all of your microsoft updates are dowloaded, (service pack 2, etc.)Firefox has less issues than IE. I am a computer technician for a local computer store. All of you have helped me with my tractor issues and I'm glad to be of help to you or anyone.

Firefox is the only way to go. I had the same problem because some one hacked my system. Got firefox and have not had any problems since. internet explore is bad about being hecked its been around for to many years

Thanks, will try what you said. I'm not much on computers, just do what I have to at work several hours per day and home. My wife is a computer whiz but getting her to help me is another story.I hate fooling with computer problems so if I don't get it to act right soon I'll just pitch it and get a new one.

Thanks, I did download it and will start using it. All I want is something that works..Mostly YT and ebay, other tractor sites..

Tom,
I've used Firefox for years and my ONLY complaint is that when selling on EBay, it doesn't work as smoothly as I.E. I have the latest I.E. on my computer but use it only when posting to sell on EBay. FF will work for browsing and bidding on Ebay, but with all the forms to fill out when selling,it is 'clunky'. Not showing previews, etc.
Good luck.

I guess I will be the one to disagree with using Firefox. I tried it and found it did not work with some websites. I have no affiliation with Microsoft, and say what you will, but almost everything is built upon Microsoft therefore it works on most everything. I have done quite a bit of site development in the corporate world, and can tell you I never tested anything against Firefox, and I suspect others do the same. If you have a problem using IE you likely have a corrupted system, or issue that needs addressed that using Firefox will merely cover up. I would start with a full anti virus scan, spyware scan, run msconfig and look for strange processes running, and if you still cannot find a fix, sorry to say a format, and reinstall of Windows would probably be my next move. I work everyday supporting Windows in a corporate environment, and have found I can usually reinstall the entire OS faster than a lot of troubleshooting. Nothing against Firefox, and if it works use it. Just my personal experiences, and yes Firefox might be a solution until you get the real problem fixed.

Rather than reload the whole operating system, just boot from the windows CD and run the repair program. After you select the repair program and get to a "DOS" type screen, type "chkdsk /r" and ENTER. That process will repair many/most corrupted files and it is much faster than reloading the entire OS with the added benefit of not wiping out your other software installs. It will also search for and "repair" hard drive problems in the process. If that doesn"t work, THEN reload the full operating system.

must be ie7...
let it run until clear itself, the error number is mess up again ... it might take a while to refresh ie7, don,t do it manual
let the computer reload itself...
don't reload window vista,xp, me... you ll make a bigger mess as i found out ....

I had the same problem, sometimes it would take a half dozen tries to get on line and then it might want to close at any time. I downloaded a patch from microsoft and have not seen that message since.

I much prefer FF, particularly with Mouse Gestures installed. It takes a little bit to get used to. My favorites are Page Back (slide left), Forward (slide right), while holding right mouse button.

A small comfort, not having to look for the Back Button? Multiply that by every time you have to fish for the cursor and line it up....xxx times a day. Once you get used to MGs you will never go back. But, keep Expl. around cause some things work better with it.

Mozilla/Firefox uses the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards. Of course MS doesn't want to use "not designed in house" standards if they can help it, bunker mentality. JMO

You will have to look around the page below for MGs look in ''add ons" and they only work with FF.
