NRA is such a wealthy rip-off organization, they have 900 websites..anyone know how to contact them? I have never had any organization irritate me so often for so long..They call every day, weekends included..I"m sure it is an automated mess but I once thought it was a good organization but now NO I do not support them and will Never support them...I need to know how to contact the scums to try to stop the harrassment.

I was an NRA member for years. Eventually they got way off the science of firearms, and off into some political fog. I got tired of it and I quit.

In the years following my resignation, I have watched what NRA has become. I have never regretted my decision.

It aint neccesarily the NRA. It's likely all the offshoot/fundraising arms of them that do the spamming and junk mailing.
I love taking on the junk mailers. I write letters, make phone calls, get on do not call lists and actively pursue them.
It's a game I play and I generally get only 4 or 5 pieces of mail per week - all of them bills or statements. Rarely do I get junk. You have obviously signed up for some of their stuff.
That's the price you pay for subscribing to any magazines or getting into contests etc.
Next time they call tell them not to call that # again. Ask to talk to a supervisor. Get off their list.

I do not subscribe to even one magazine, nor do I register anything but warranties..BUT you never know who is selling your name and address even tho everybody sends out the privacy statements these days.

he fact of the matter, Tom N MS, is that once you give any organization a contribution (I don't care if it is the fight against breast cancer, cripple children, cleft pallet help, NRA, NOW, or the nnalert or nnalert) , they have your number so to speak & just won't take no for an answer. Just life in theses times.

Here in 'the Great White North' (no racism implied), our beloved Gov't (NOT) decided that a "Gun Registry" was required so that criminals could be kept track of. Yeah, ALL Canadian criminals register their weapons !? Anyhoo, 2 BILLION dollars were spent setting up the system and sending out registration forms and such, now, most folks that have always had guns (farmers, hunters, trophy shooters and the like) were not real happy about this (nor was the average Joe non gun enthusiast taxpayer). The 'Bill' to eliminate this deal was shot down in Parliment because "it would be detrimental to the Public" - go figure, 2B $ wasted that could have been spent on health care or schools or me and NOT 1 criminal registered his weapons. Have a nice Thanksgiving you US doods !

My 2 cents worth. If you dont like the political turn of the NRA then why are you turning this "Tractor" web site into a political web site? I personally enjoy reading about Ford N tractors. Dont care much to seeing this site turn into a political sounding board. Nuff said.

Subject plainly says OT(that means off topic sir) so you don"t ever have to read one word of an OT post....The same old, same old, same old stuff on the forum gets boring at times and Most of us like an OT every now and then. Thanks for your comments..

Thanks for everyones comments. I have reported them for harrassment so hopefully they will quit calling soon.Automated I'm sure but never had one be so persistent for weeks and weeks..Rest assured I will get them..I will win..

I"m a Life Member and they never call. As far as I know I never told them not to call. I do get lots of mail from them.

Really irritating-for a month or two they have not missed one day. I"m never here when they call but if I am here and they call I"m going to answer then ask them to hold a minute, then I"ll lay the phone down and go to town, or mow the lawn or something.

I agree with JMOR - once you donate to any cause - if they have your contact info they WILL come back again. So you have to choose carefully who you support, because cash donations are important to worthwhile outfits.

I belong to the NRA, GOA and TFA, and strongly support ALL our constitutional rights. Sure, the NRA gets windy, but they get more accomplished than GOA. Grassroots orgs just can't cut it in our nation's capital. Even the tea party election successes don't guarantee that the new Congress critters will remember who brung them to the dance...

I"m a life member and no one orgination can do everything each member wants it to do. I"ve been a life member over 10 years and I"am proud to stand up for the Contitution. Why not get your phone disconnected. I had great success when answering my phone by asking the callers to please take me off their list. There is also the do no call list (https://www.donotcall.gov/). Well hopefully good Americans that want to keep their guns legally and stay informed of what is going on concerning the first amendment and Our right to bear arms. United We stand, divided We fall.

You know I"m a proud vet. Served 8 years defending the Constitution and as I recall there is more to it than the 1st amendment. There"s some high highfalutin language about government by the people for the people and something about protecting liberty, property, Freedom and Lives. The Nra, though it began as just a group of gun lovers getting together for some target practice began hiring lawyers that learned to target our wallets. So that this group of gun lovers could force their way into each and everyone of our lives. There have been a number of good pieces of legislation proposed that would"ve made it more difficult{not impossible} for criminals to get weapons. Some of these proposed laws would have improved tracking shipments, sales, tougher background checks, They would of made everyone up and down the supply chain more responsible to US the people. In other words they would have saved LIVES. So when the Nra rejected these proposals and lobbied against them they just showed their true colors and it wasn"t red, white and blue. I know they throw out that chit about Big Brother and all but, if I have to jump a hurdle or three to get a hunting rifle because of that legislation and some innocent victim isn"t shot because of that legislation then I say bring it on and the NRA should reevaluate whose side they are on and banned from seeking donations. Including their telemarketers.

It is because we are a group of like minded friends . Most of us feel the same way on any given subject but are open minded and looking for suggestions .
Even your post is essential in keeping this group self policed and running smoothly . Nothing wrong with a few OT's but we would not want to have 3 out of 4 posts being OT .

Do they really call you everyday?

That almost sounds like a crank call.

You need to get real rude and abusive on the phone.

an, you can't really believe that murdering criminals walk into a legitimate store & buy their guns, do you? They are stolen or blackmarket & both avenues will always be available no matter what laws/legislation exists.

I left the NRA when their magazines, Am. rifleman, Am Hunter, ran an ad with mother holding baby shooter, Lon Horiuchi.

It was an HS precision ad. What it should have said was: "when blowing off the mothers face off and missing the really baby counts, count on HS Precision.

I wrote the NRA, and they stood by having the murderer giving a full page endorsement, made me sick to my stomach. I'll never send them a penny again.

About a year ago, they called me. I'm a life member as are my 3 sons. They asked for support in fighting an upcoming supreme court case and I said "sure". I sent them $100 and they sent me a nice thank you along with a cap and a pocket knife. About two months later they called me again. I realized that they had identified me as a willing, regular supporter and politely told them to not call again. They haven't.

BUT you never know who is selling your name and address even tho everybody sends out the privacy statements these days.
Our DMV sold ours because I started getting a book selling classic parts for the old truck I had tagged. I first thought it was a strange coincidence till I heard it happening to others.
I liked the magazine but kinda crooked how they went about it.

I was a member about 15 years ago, until about 8yrs ago,I got where I couldn't hunt anymore, and let my membership lapse. After that,I started getting calls,I hung up on them after telling them not interested, that didn't work.I started just hanging up,and after 45-50 calls,it stopped.I then got a subscription renewal and a dun for money.I sent them a letter stating that the person they were trying to get money from is dead.Freedom at last!!!!!---lha

(quoted from post at 19:04:57 11/23/10) Every day..Have not called today YET..But it is late sometimes when they call..

They do call here at least weekly, if not more often.

Waaaay back when,Iwas at a gun show and I signed up with the N.R.A. thougt it was a good group ,one of the things that they promiced was a NRA shooters hat well I was a member for 10 years and never did get my hat,now I know that its just a dumd hat and I dont realy need another one,BUT how do I expect them to keep any of their big promices to guard my rights as a gun owner when they cant even do something simple like get a hat out in the mail when ever I get a call from the N.R.A. I remind them of the fact that Ididnt get my hat,I dont cet thecalls, but i also never got my hat,so what is a promice worth?

Earlier tonight I reported that they had not called today YET..Well they just called so I answered and this sweet talking young lady wanted me to take a short survey..I stopped her and asked her to do me one favor by putting me on a do not call list. She assured me she would. Guess we will see.

No, I don"t believe that. If they want a gun bad enough they"l get one. I was just stating that some of the legislation I"ve read about would make it more difficult for shipments of weapons to get stolen by making the manufacturers, distributors and retail outlets more accountable. They would stiffen penalties for gun related offences of all kinds. Lets face it the world is going crazy and innocent people are dying for nothing. If groups like the NRA would be more proactive in helping to solve some of the problems instead of just flat out rejecting any government attempt to solve them then I"d become a member.

All laws is for is to make the Govm'nt money.

Got cher seat belt on?

Hang on to what I'm tellin ya.

Dayum, I grew up in cars without seat belts, half the time layin' in the back window deck.

What was it my daughter said on FB today.....

"This has been a complete intelligence faliure of massive proportions!"

I AM not just talking NRA, I am talking WHOLE Govm'nt!!!!!!

Most of the population!!!!!!!!!!

I think I will hush, fore I say, what I do really think.

Dunk, I agree totally. I was born a pessimist but I"ll take it a step farther, I say we have given our country away and it is too late to take it back IT IS GONE...We are done--It is OVER.

As bad as I hate to say it......

I have to concur.

If it were not for the NRA, all of you who are complaining would not own any firearms. All the former proposed legislation would likely have passed. I am a life member and have NEVER been called by the NRA. It is the only effective organization that stands between you and your right to own and use firearms. It is your watchdog of legislation concerning your right concerning firearms while you are concerned with other things.
If you want to maintain the right to own and use firearms and you are not a member, you are being naive at best, or foolish at the least.

I used to belong and it isn't that they have not had a positive effect but if you watch the voting records of candidates they endorse, it is very often more about "support the favored nnalert" than supporting the candidate favorably disposed to gun ownership.

I can't tell you how many times they endorsed someone with a dismal gun control record, but the right party.

I think that GOA and JPFO are much better idealogically, they are just much $maller orgs.

The Constitution (presumably of the United States) that you ..."defended for 8 years" does not reference any of the phrases you cited.

FYI

Never said that I was the most educated. So they"re from the Declaration and Bill of rights. The Constitution frames the government to protect those so close enough.

And then you woke up..dream on. Most likely they have had little if any affect on anything..Big as they have gotten, its nothing more than a big money game.BUT if they are going to support one party or the other, they have made the right choice..

America spends more on imported illegal narcotics, by a large margin, than on gasoline in this country so I seriously doubt that the NRA has hamstrung any legislation that would have any measurable benefit to hampering illegal firearms trafficking. It invariably serves only to raise revenues to the government (at our expense) and increases tracking and restriction of the activities of ordinary individuals and private industry, not those outside legitimate activities.

The tone of your message seems to be one of a person who is genuinely concerned but I do not believe that you have really thought this through to its logical conclusion based on history of so many other governments which have limited trade and ownership of weapons among its citizens. There is a greater issue at stake. The right to arms is NOT about hunting. It is about the right to live in a free society being secure in your person and property against an oppressive government so that you do not end up like the Falun Gong or Christians in China of today nor the Jews in 1933 Germany and so on, all the way back to imperial Rome, at least. Each time the citizens are deprived of their rights the pretext is ALWAYS "public safety".

Since even murder is not a federal crime unless perpetrated against federal employees or on federal property, the United States government does not have a "compelling interest" in regulating movement of firearms for purposes of "preventing" violent crime outside their constitutionally permitted jurisdiction which does not include the State of Iowa, Springfield Mass, Walmart stores, nor my home.

Any reductionist logic including "if it only saves one life..." will be ignored.

BTW- I am NOT a fan of the NRA, as stated in an earlier posting. I think they are far too political these days and have largely lost their idealogy but the blame should be limited to that. To the degree that they fight to limit government intrusion into affairs ouside their Constitutionally permitted scope, the NRA should be lauded.

You sound like a politician{not that that"s a bad thing}. And it a good thing we"re not arguing my uneducation would clearly let me down. Of course, this is not about just "hunting". And If this was just about the right to bear arms the NRA is one of many that has helped to keep the government in check. And that"s alright. But as a champion of our rights they need to keep themselves in check and stay out of homes where they are not wanted. Which is the reason for this topic in the first place. Oh by the way, not to belittle their plight in the least as they and others have had it far worse than we could imagine. The governments you listed in the paragraph above may have listed "public safety" as an excuse for their actions. But history has taught us that those governments going back to the Romans and including past American governments(Indian Relocation) had far more sinister reasons for oppressing those unfortunate people. We may have or had a politician or two that thought in those terms. But comparing that kind of public safety to our public safety concerns today doesn't fly.

Surely groups like the NRA and others like it, enlightened citizens such as yourself, like minded politicians can craft legislation that could give our Federal, state, and local Law enforcement the tools, technology, resources, and drive to make our country a "May Berry" kind of place, and to ensure that our rights as law abiding citizens aren't violated. People everywhere are crying out saying somebody's got to do something. So let's do it. Doubt if we get it right the first time. So then we try something else. We just can't give up.

As far as unwanted "junk" calls I always respond immediately with "don't call list". The vast majority of these calls to me are either political or charities who are not subject to the restrictions of the don't call list, however.

Regarding more legislation, there are something over 20,000 federal, state and local gun laws as it is. At what number will we arrive at *the one* that allows us the right to defense and prevents criminal mischief?

I suppose we will just have to agree to disagree on government solutions to this type of issue. Prohibitions demonstrably do not work; they only restrain those who have no inclination to injure others to begin with.

Have a good Thanksgiving whatever your thoughts.
