OT: Polaris Fourwheeler

Anybody ever have problems with the intake boot on their polaris fourwheelers cracking and then beginning to suck air making the machine run irregularly mine has this problem and i'm on about the 4 boot now.

I have a Polaris Sportsman 400 and the quality of this thing is mediocre. The transmission feels clunky and cheap, the driver pod blinks out from time to time and they advertise it to push snow, and do farm chores. But if the snow is deeper then 8" your screwed. Oh well I will quit *itching now.

yes, we had to rebuild a 400 b/c the boot cracked and it sucked dust into the motor. On the older 2strokes, they had a rubber wedge that fit between the motor/trans and the carb to keep the carb from just hanging and shaking that boot into pieces. we didn"t learn that until after the new motor.

Nothing out of the ordinarty in my opinion. We have a Polaris HO 500 - a 250 Trail Blazer ,both 2001 Machines and minor parts replacements are expected. We also have a 2007 Artic Cat 500 and time will tell. I have to fight to get my turn on the "Cat". It has put the fun back into 4 Wheel'in. It rides so much better,Steering is a breeze and besides it's "Red"

Thanks for the input, i just ordered a new boot today patched up the old one with some gas resistant silicone and electrical tape, welded up the carb bracket so i could get the yard chores done hopefully the new one will be here next week
