OT--- PU Tires

Has anyone tried the Goodyear Fortera/triple tread tires on a 2 wheel drive mini pickup?
Want the best traction for ice and snow, man said these are really good for that.

I have been extremely happy with WinterForce tires sold by Firestone on my 95 Nissan 2wd PU. They are a snow tire. I run Firestone Firehawks in the other seasons. I have had the current set for 3 winters now and they look to be good for at least one more. I bought mine at tirerack.com and mounted them myself. I put them on a second set of wheels so that they could be easily switched back and forth. They go great, even on a 2wd truck. I have had trouble trying to find a tire with good road manners and winter traction and conceded that such a tire did not exist. The Firehawks work okay as snow tires as long as they are relatively new. The Winterforces are a little squishy and noisy, especially with the studs, and are definitly a snow tire. 47 a piece plus shipping for a 205-75-14.

HE sells the things. Of cource hes gonna tell you they good. I have absolutley nothing but gut wrenching discust for GoodYear tires and will never buy another Goodyear tire as long as I live. Last set of tires I boughta set of tires for a 2wd truck, other than my dually, was for a Dodge Dakota, and those were General grabber ATs, which are still made, but they have changed the tread pattern. I bought a set of Uniroyal laredo AWTs for the rear of my dually, HDHs for the fron and have been 100% satisfied so far,

I have had pretty good luck with goodyears, probably like brands of beer, no accounting for taste.

Blizzak is the best all around winter tire I have found, as far as traction is concerned. They do wear faster than a lot of alternatives though, and are on the pricy side.

Winterforce tires are cheaper, but are designed to be a studded tire. Because of this they have a harder rubber compound than the Blizzak's. This makes for poor ice performance unless you stud them. I am on my third season with a set of these tires, they are holding up well, but have worse ice traction than my all seasons do.

Funny I had bad luck with Uniroyal and have had good service out of Michelin and Goodyear.

Admittedly, mine are studded. I do not face too much straight ice, just packed snow. Mine are seveal years old and I can still push my finger deep into the tread. The backside of this is the squishy dry road feel. I will definitely try Blizzaks when the opportunity presents itself. I use chains when the stuff is too deep.
