About a month ago I caught a mouse in the crawlspace on a glueboard and it appeard to be somewhat eaten by a rat ,I think. It appeared to be at one time the rat was on the glueboard but got free. I have a tomcat rat trap baited with peanut butter and friut loops. Glueboard baited with peanut butter and dog food. Rat pioson coatted with peanut butter. So far the rat does not seem interested in the all of the above methods. I hear this rat almost every night? How do I get this rat interested in the trap? I live in Indiana near a dairy farm. :x

I have the best "two" rat traps around.

We have two Chihuahuas and they have killed several and they treat the dead bodys like trophys.

We live very close to Lake St Clair in Michigan and we see our share of rats that come out of the Marines.

Our male is 9 lbs of teeth and attitude and tears them up bad. The female is 6lbs and kills them and plays with them.

I keep a very neat and clean yard/house but they seem to catch them around the trash cans.

So set your traps around the trash or move the trash to the problem area.

Our male even kills rabbits ... Never thought i would like a small dog but these two are unreal wouldn't trade them for the world.

I've tried all sorts of bait and the only thing that worked for my rats was birdseed. Needed a live trap for that. Then you have a live rat to dispose of, or shoot in the cage.

I take mine to some scuzzballs a mile down the road who tried to break into my shop 2 consecutive nights a few years ago. Followed the oil drips back to their trailer. Don't know if they noticed the increased rat population there. I enjoyed it.

Try bacon....and tie it to the trigger of the trap...even better is to partially fry the bacon before tying it to the trap trigger

we have used rat poison, and rat traps. they look like a mouse trap on steroids. Really big, larg piece of wood and a heavy spring. Both worked well.

Where you now hear him in the wall will be where he dies if you poison him and he will stink to high heaven as pay back. Try a small live trap then you can control the dispatch process. If you are inclined to be merciful, slide the trap and occupant into a small trash back and add a couple seconds spray of starting fluid and twist the bag shut. In a couple of minutes the rat or squirrel will be out cold ready for a thunk on the head.

I've had best success with a poison called "Blue Death." Far better than common brands. I get mine from my elevator/grain dealer.

Peanut butter is the best general purpose bait for traps. Although I have had a few gophers (thirteen striped ground squirrels) that didn't fall for it.

My son lives about 100 feet off of lake St. Clair and his attic is alive with all sorts of vermin. It's a wonder the ceiling doesn't fall in. The best way to clean it would be to set fire to the place and shoot whatever ran out.

As usual come Sept./Oct there will be a couple come in my house. I tried the peanut butter but, found that potted meat worked better for me. Some one recently (somewhere) said to put peppermint soaked cotton balls back in the walls where the wall plug ins were...by removing the cover first. This person said it worked for them, I've never tried it. ohfred

Rodents tend to run along walls and behind cover.
I've trapped many hard to catch pests that would not
touch bait.Just by funneling them over a trap.
