ot:: rural water line

OK folks, good news and bad news combined. A couple weeks ago a new rural water line made it's way past my place and I agreed to an easement for the line. I understand I better set a meter before water starts running thru the line as a dry line is much easier to plumb. BUT, A GRIPE, do I have a leg to stand on regarding the easement? About half the front yards were line bored instead of trenched, but they trenched mine. They cut thru my sewer line and an older drain tile line so had to backhoe both to repair. I have a circle drive, thank goodness, so still have one drive I can very carefully cross. I did defy their advice on the drive I can still use and bladed and packed my east drive. My west drive and access to the barn is gone. I have about 200 bales of hay need to go inside, can't get there. The west part is all collapsed in, tried to pack with my Ford 5000 after our too much recent rains, about 4 inches in the last 36 hours, and am buried to both the front and rear axles. After the first 1.5 inches got my mail route car stuck in the west drive in the water line after work Friday. I feel they at least owe me enough gravel to fix the mess and maybe something for the hay that has now gotten wet.

Doug what part of ILL are you from ,we are waiting for our rural water just north of Spfld .Hope we don't have problems like your's .I say somebody owes you some rock .

They need to make your place look like it did before they came thru! Is it a contractor or the township doing the work? An easement is not permission for abuse. Start burnin up some phone lines ans jumpin up and down on some desks.

Your easemant agreement should have included the installation agreement. In that agreement the grantee of the easement should have agreed to make you whole after the installation.

I agree that it is time for you to burn up some phone lines and right now! Contractors hate Sunday phone calls but you have a legitimate gripe.

I install water and sewer lines for a living.. The installer is supposed to keep you accessable to all your property as soon as they lay the pipe through.

I have driveways accessable with in minutes after laying the pipe across a drive or access.

Won't do you any good to call the contractor, unless it is the utility that is doing the work..

Call the utility dept, when they get open. Don't loose your cool, but be clear on what you expect...

Good luck.

ok i have a question do the other houses have permanent things to cross under if they do that is why they drilled it. oh yah do you have any permanent things to cross under if not that is why i am a contractor for underground utilites and we do what is fastest. and it is construction any little weather thing slows it down especially if ya get the wrong part or you hit rock it just depends all on the conditions

I am in Mc Donough county, just west of Tennessee. All I really want is for them to fix the mess. Now I feel they should supply enough rock to restore my driveway to a non muddy condition as it was before the line came thru. The wife is very unhappy right now with the mud plus the fact we had to shut off access to the horse pasture so one of the horses doesn"t step in the collapsing line.
