OT; Rustler Jeans

Anyone else have a problem with Rustler jeans. I just tore the seat out of my 4th pair of these jeans. They always tear down from the top inside corner of the rear pocket. Is this a common problem?

I have telephoned and e-mailed VF, the parent company, in Greensboro, North Carolina, but have yet to receive their response... Gene

I never had much luck with them. I always have had the best luck with Levi's, but the price sucks!

what do you expect for what they charge for them at dollar general ,try carhart jeans ,I have some that are 5 years old and are still solid .

Yep, they are cheap jeans, for a cheap price. Had the same issue with Key jeans, went back to Lee jeans with no problems. Ya get what you pay for.

I like Dickies jeans from Farm and Fleet. They usually run about $15 a pair or $20 for the brown duck ones. Lots of extra stitching and they fit me really well. Those Rustlers are great if you sit around all day and don't do anything.

Levi's are the only jeans I'll wear. My kids laugh because they are a standing item on my BD and Christmas lists. I must have 13-14 pair in various stages of wear/tear: from 3 pair hanging in the closet still with the tags on...to some with holes that my wife wants to throw out (those are my "work on the greasy backhoe jeans"). Funny thing is, I see kids buy them off the rack with holes that the manufacturer puts in!! I just can't understand that.

If I get something other than Levi's as a gift, they go right back to the store.

I wear the Wrangler Riggs wear jeans I buy at Gabriel Brothers.

I've been buying field and forest brand at Fleet Farm for $9 a pair. They seem to hold up as well as any jeans under normal farm wear and tear. I do wear Dickies bibs in the winter, and am pleased with them as well. I have one pair of lined carthartt jeans I recieved as a gift, and like them very well also.

I bought Rustler jeans once, never again. I have Levis that are full of holes and stains that are 9 years old and I have some also have Carharts that are 5 years old and I have some Wranglers that are 4 yeas old. The Wranglers seem to have the best cost ratio and then the carharts.
Carharts here are $28, Wranglers $16 and the good Levis $32. Rustlers and Faded Glory at Wal-Mart ar $9-10 but dont last more than a year. I guess it's what ever you are comfortable in. Wranglers for mw.

Lots of good comments here. I have had good luck with Wranglers. Hadn't had much trouble till they started making them in Honduras. Apparently something was lost in the move offshore.... Gene

I wear Rustlers all the time for work and I have found them to wear as well as any. One reason I wear them is they are always a lot cheaper than other brands, why pay $25.00 to $35.00 for something that you might tear or spill something on and ruin them.

I used to wear only Lee brand jeans. They don't fit the same any more, and I haven't gained or lost weight. I bought a pair of Levi's, same thing, bought a pair of Wranglers a month ago.All straight leg. Guess what? They must be all made by the same kids.

untill about 6 months ago i bought nothing but rustler for work and held up for about a year but that was okay because my job in construction maintenence is extremely hard on pants one day i bought a pair of wranglers (not the cowboy type there is 2 types of wrangler jeans)they are a little classier loohing than rustlers $20 at tsc and the same thing at walmart for $15 now thats all i buy

They sell them on sale for $14 and they will last me a long time for the money. I buy good Wranglers for good/going to town jeans and when they get thin I work in them. They last a long time just can"t pay $25 or $30 for work pants.

i wear them all the time and have no problem.it just all depends on teh person i guess. i can't stad to wear dickies cuz theu are too tight on teh legs and crotch...but to each his own.

I have tried Rustlers and liked the fit and the price--they were about half what Levis or Wranglers cost. But I found that they wore out fairly fast.

My problem with most jeans is that the top corners of the back pockets tend to tear out. I generally carry my wallet in one back pocket and my checkbook in the other. Neither item is particularly thick. I have wondered if I somehow catch the pocket on something and tear the cloth. Anyway, that is where my jeans usually wear out first...which doesn't worry me much for working around home. I wish they would reinforce the upper corners of the back pockets.

When I was a kid, I always wore out the right back pocket of my jeans, because that was where I usually carried a pair of pliers for fixing fence. Occasionally I would split a pair of jeans on the inside of the thigh if I really flexed my legs pushing or lifting something. But now I buy jeans that are not cut as tight as the ones I used to get.

The last couple of pairs of jeans I have bought have come from Costco, the Kirkland brand. They were inexpensive and seem to fit OK. It is too soon to see how well they will wear, but the cloth feels as heavy as the last Levis I bought, and a lot thicker than the Rustlers.

There are lots of companies selling jeans. I haven't found any that were too bad. You might want to try the relaxed fit style if you are splitting them. They are not cut so tight and give more room where I need it. Good luck!

Wow thats ironic I just had the same thing happen to a pair of Lee. Same exact place for tear. I wonder if Rustler is made by Lee or vise-versa. Only went through wash twice. It's like there made out of rotton cotton. Wife e'mailed co. Haven't heard back yet.

i had the same problem with my carharts and levis. carhart set me 2 new pair of carhart jeans and said they had a problem with them for awhile and didn't know why. they wanted all those jeans back with a receipt.

I buy Field & Forest relaxed fit (OR was it carpenter?...) for about $13. They'll last me for about 1 1/2-2 years, and then the seams start to go. Last 2 pair I blew out on the hips. I gotta keep atleast 5 pair in rotation for work jeans, otherwise I can't seem to find a clean pair ever...

If you don't mind spending the money get a pair of PeDee jeans they are made right near me in a small town out in the country. But they will out wear anything on the market.

Amen on the Levis!I have to wear Wrangler at work but they don't fit as good as I like pants to fit.I can buy Levis and really enjoy the fit.I have two pair of Levis that are over ten years old that are finally coming apart and are almost white from all the washing over the years.

Rustler's are the economy brand of Wrangler. I only wear the Wrangler 13MWZ jeans myself. A better fit than Levi's or the other Wranglers, especialy if you ride a horse.

Yes Walt the Pedee Jeans are the best on the market. That lady in Monmouth Oregon does a great job making these jeans. I'm a little confused about how you tie in the Prison Blue Jeans with Pedee Jeans. I wear Rustlers also because they are cheap and fit well. That is at least for a while. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but all my jeans shrink up too small before they wear out. After about 20 washings they are so small I cannot get them on anymore. I started buying them too big but went back to regular size because I can't stand the way they feel. I just buy new ones that fit and when they get too small I donate them to Good Will and buy new ones. I bought 5 new pairs a couple of weeks ago. A funny thing happened. I washed 3 pairs of them (First time) and when I pulled them out of the dryer, the whole damn knee in all three pairs was gone. They would have been in style for young kids but I cannot stand my knee sticking out. I thought about that for a week but couldn't figure it out. Then I finally realized what happened. I had been doing blade work with an old 530 Case tractor. The battery sits just in front of the gear shifter under the dash. It dawned on me that while backing up , my knee was rubbing against the battery. After 10 years, I decided to put the battery cover back on.
