OK, this has gone on too long. There is no way that 5 sheep are drinking 30 gallons of water in one day. What is happening here?????

Where?
How long?
Imperial gallons or US?
Leak?
You can't count?
Evaporation?
Spilling the water?
Who knows!

My pet sheep are here in the Ohio and I am sick of hauling out the hose every morning. There is something wrong with this picture.

We used to add a half inch of water to a guys rain guage every time it rained and then just to mess with him some more we we would dump a little out sometimes. He never did figure out why his rainfall was not the same as the nieghbors - it drove him nuts!

A buddy said he worked with a guy that bought a VW bug, back in the 60's. The guy was always bragging about his gas mileage.. They started adding gas to his tank, just for fun.. Back then, gas was cheap. so they had a lot of fun, fooling the guy.. He was thinking he was getting over 100 miles per gallon.. LOL

If you are sick now, wait a few months. Chipping the ice out and dragging/ draining the frozen hose is no picnic either. I guess that is why I don"t have horses or other large critters, I helped my neighbor with his when I was a kid, it was a lot of work just for those few rides we took in the summer, although we did hook a ski rope to the saddle one winter and went skiing with downhill skis behind them. That was fun except for the snow clods flying at us from the hooves!

Get real!
50 years ago we used to haul the drinking water across the yards for the cattle in the winter. Yes, 6 Imperial gallons at a time. And you are bothered about running out a hose!!

Hey Lanse,

Spend around $8-10 at your local Tractor Supply and get yourself an Automatic Float Valve that will attach to your hose and fill up the pot automatically! Wonderful lil inventions, those things are! I have sheep also, you can see some of my new lambs on my web site, and yes they will drink A LOT. Mine drink from my goosy pool though (it's 6 foot across and 3 feet high) which is REALLY yucky, but they like it cause I have fresh water buckets out for them, I guess the other has more FLAVOR! LOL

Or just have MORE buckets out in total...
