They are about 325#-375#, they are getting 3.5# of grower each per day and I have been feeding 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the pm. As I kid I remember my uncle only having us feed his steers in the am. Is it better to give them their whole daily ration at one time of the day or should I continue to split it am and pm. They are red holstien with one fat little always eating Swedish Red- his name is T-Bone!!

My Dad always fed twice a day for gain in drylot. I feed once per day on pasture though I do believe the smaller calves get a better chance at the trough by feeding twice per day.

I feed a few here at the house and a few down at the other place I take care of . The ones down there get the same amount but once a day just because thats when I`m there . The ones here at the house get AM & PM and they tend to run a few lbs. heavyer than the ones that get feed once a day . I dont think it would pay for a extra trip down there every day even though it`s just around the corner .

Try to feed them the same time every day, twice daily. Fresh clean water is a must. They'll be expecting you at mealtime and it's easier to watch for ones that are sick/off feed.

One of the best lessons/advice Grandpa taught me.
