OT: update on belt throwing mower

John Deere 240 lawn tractor .

After a lengthy trip to the JD dealer I got a new belt.
Put the belt on and cut for hours... no problems, no thrown belt. YAAA!!!!
Dealer said all he could think was a bad belt from the start or weakened belt from slipping off so much. the belt was in good condition and you could still read the #'s on it clearly .
But after I put on the new belt, No problems.
Now I know I am no rocket Scientist such as "Rob from Indiana" but I guess I got it figured out without taking it in as suggested by my good friend "Rob" as he thought I was just not smart enough to figure it out myself.
He thought I was a fool to throw $22 for a new belt but I went against his kind reply and well... looks like it worked.
I would like to THANK everyone who offered helpful suggestions and tried to help me.
You guys are the best!!!
I'd love to buy you all a beer but somehow I doubt you'll be in Northern Canada anytime soon...
Again thank you and God Bless !!!

Man, I know how frustrating those kinds of problems can be. Sorry I never thought of it, but I had one a long time ago, that had a manufactured default the internal "treads" or what ever were laid in NOT straight. Sort of like the steel belts in a tire, made it run semi twisted ..

You said you could read the numbers on the belt. Did you try putting it on to run in the opposite direction? Sometimes that helps.

Areo

I had never tried running the belt" inside out"
I guess next time I can try that .
I just hope there is no next time! LOL
have a great day!
