OT- What am I thinking...

Just came inside to grab a bite of lunch been running 350 feet of waterline so I can put the cows in a new pasture. I felt ok till the A/C hit me then Bam I realised just how overheated/dained I am. Darn you Texas Sun! :x

Same here only I go downstairs (no A/C) so it is not as much of a shock. All the A/C we continue to to enter leave from (cars, homes, stores) and then into the heat just makes it harder for our bodies to adjust. Ofcourse paving everything over remvoving alol the trees makes it hotter too!

I know what you mean.I lived in Dallas in '80 when the temp went to 117 and up. I lived in an old house that was hard to cool,so I rented an apt so I could sleep easily.I still had to work all day,but had an escape.Had a heat stroke that year, but now I know to drink [water]like crazy. After going through chemotherapy,I can't stand the heat much anymore,so I do what I can in the morning.Good luck, and drink a lot of water!!---lha

Ain't it the truth. We went out to lunch today & run a few errands. When we got back to the house the A/C was limping by, keeping the house around 80.

I don't know what it is, but when I'm at the farm the heat doesn't bother me near as much as when I'm in town.

My A/C guy is coming over tomorrow...maybe.

My A/C guy called today, broke down in his vehicle & needed a ride. I hurried out to get him & hope I didn't make him wait too long.
My system has a leak (we can't find) so he has to top off the Freon every few weeks. It's probably due soon. I hope he still likes me.....

I have AC in the shop,,,, a AC that will get'er done,,, does not cost that much to cool it in the dead heat of summer,,, I run it only in the spring when the pollen is bad,,, other than that deal with the heat.... reason is I like to work in the garden/yard late in the afternoon,,, it feels good even when its hot,,, If i run the AC all day in the shop I can not deal with the heat later on when I go out to do my garden work,,, I can not deal with work'n out in the sun anymore like i use to..... I an sit'n in the shop rite now,,, 9:30 PM and 89,,, feels good.....

My co-worker/pilot friend Frank (65 yrs young), ex-F-111 pilot was mowing his yard and came inside for a moment, found his wife on the phone. She asked him if he was ready for her to fix lunch and he said, NO...he'd be through in just a few more passes with the lawn mower... so she went back to talking. After a while, she finished her talk and turned to making lunch....when it occured to her the mower sounded like it was running but not actually passing back-and-forth in the yard. She went outside to find Frank face-down and dead from heat-stroke.

It was THEN that she recalled when he'd come inside 20 mins earlier....that he wasn't sweating ...but was obviously hot.
