Paint codes

I'm looking for the correct paint codes for a 1958 John Deere 420, the yellow and green. I am using PPG paint. Also paint code for a Fordson F4, 1921.
Thanks,
Walt in Omak

The codes are in Rod's link -- however you have to find out which JD codes the PPG numbers match. I know nothing about Deere. Someone on the JD forum on this site will know, as will B Maniac, who posts on this board if he is around.

Walt; I always hesitate to give paint codes out for the obvious reasons. Someone's always gonna tell you they are wrong or the guy's tractor beside you at the show is a shade different and he will sware HIS is correct. I use PPG 43817. I chose this color some time ago based on a real nice original part on one of the JD's. (1950 B ) I guess you could call it a coincedance, but it also matches exactly the styled seat back that Leeland Shwantz sells (sold) and also the step and bracket that I bought recently for a "B". In my opinion this "modern" "available" code is as accurate as you can get. As you know , there is no "correct" color for a tractor that was more than likely painted with many brands and subtle shades of green throughout the 2cyl era of tractors. PPG dealer should have this chip in their books. Caution! you must pull the chip off the white page backing to get an accurate comparison. Also be cautioned that after you are all done with your tractor, someone will tell you it is the wrong color. You probably get the picture by now. Good Luck,Walt!

Looks like Rod needs to add 43817 to his list. Is that a cross for a JD code, or the number on a chip you selected? -- just curious

CNKS ; To tell you the truth , it's been long enough now i can't remember! It just seems like we got "close" from their code and wasn't happy with the shade and went to the chips? Now you got me wondering. I'll retrace my procedure and post on when I'm sure.
