Paint gun spitting

Hi guys-painted a allis G to day.The paint gun was spitting paint.I thought I had everything adjusted right.Now I have a couple clumps in my paint job.Guess I will sand them out and give it another light coat.Good idea?Thanks

What kinda gun?
On the guns I've used the mixing valve wasn't tight enough when they did that .

dude--read the post down further. i am
dealing with the same conditions. the pressure,
the viscosity, the length of hose--ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. i call "globs" orange peel.
oh--the speed and distance away from the work
are critical too. bye

Suction gun? Vent in top of can may be plugged...

Lose or dry packing behind the spray head, allowing air in, will cause sputtering.

I have had this problem from time to time too. Either all pieces of the gun are not tightened down enough and are letting air in, or the pait is not thin enough. Check all the fittings and if it still does it, use more thinner in you paint.

along with everything else mentioned not getting it cleaned properly last time and also contamination in the paint that wasn't strained out prior to pouring in the cup can also cause sputtering.

The packing in the forward section of the paint gun--where the needle goes into it, must be lubricated occasionally. I always used a drop of motor oil, and allowed it to sink in, then wiped off the rest. working the trigger helped the oil to get into the packing.
Never had any problem with it getting in the paint, and usually lasted for 3-4 months.

speed and distance can casue some vary but depends on how u paint if i paint single stage i back up and go over it slow... when i paint b/c i spray close and lay then hammer down when i paint....no problems yet...
