parade ready

Hi has anyone noticed the wide spectrum when somebody says their tractor is parade ready? I think one of my favorites is a complete restoration and professional paint job and then you take a look and the axles are the wrong colors well anyway Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I myself don't care if they are all painted up new looking. Just seeing some of them tractors running down the road is real exciting to me.
Are stopping to say hello to a tractor owner and getting a close look... Not to take away from your thoughts.... of course the painted one's are nice to see. Happy New Year.

To me, parade ready is: "it runs good, everything works, tires good, hold air and it is ready and capable to be in a parade" .

I was just looking at one of those red M's in the photo ads and it said "restored". Does restored mean throw some paint on it along with a sale sign or has the tractor been torn down and rebuilt? I would love to have one and I have been looking but I really don't need another big black hole to throw money down.

In most cases ,new paint makes them parade ready.

Years ago I saw a tractor that was some 35 years old, it had extremely excellent care, it appeared and right out of the factory. It had a different look to it then the ones that are repainted, refurbished, redone, to the point they look fake. You can sure tell an orginal from a completely restored one. The restored ones look beautiful, but not like a orginial. The orginial might be wore out, but looks better.

Heck, in most cases, a complete restoration is a paint job and an oil change.

My "restored" Super C is a tractor that we have had on our farm for as long as I remember. We quit using it probably 25 years ago. I don't remember why we quit using it, but we did. The engine ended being locked up when I went to start the restoration job. I completely tore this entire tractor down, with the exception of the hydraulic system (ran out of time), hope to be able to get to it this winter, but that doesn't look like it will happen. EVERY bolt was taken off and every part that needed replaced was. The paint job is NOT perfect, but I am happy with it. Because the project was done 100% by me, with the execption of the engine machine work, I am very proud of my "restored" tractor Every seal was replaced and any bearing was replaced that needed to be. The fact that it is a tractor that my brothers and I learned "character" on, and I was able to drag it out of the fencerow and bring it back to life gave me a sense of satisfaction that I have not had for a long time!! That is what my "restored" tractor is.

I like them parade ready. Usually painted everything. Belts, wires,plugs, fuel lines coil, cap, sometimes a little color on the tires. Don't fergit to scrape the gauge glass.
